🌳 TREE WORK UNDERWAY AT OVERLOOK PARK! 🌳
Tree work has officially started today at Overlook Park as the Town of Newburgh continues its efforts to care for and maintain this unique community property.
The Town’s contractor, American Eagle Tree Service, will be working throughout several areas of the almost 20-acre park, completing necessary tree work to help improve safety, maintain the grounds, and preserve the natural character of the property.
🌲 Visitors to Overlook Park may see crews and equipment operating in different areas of the park while this work is underway. Please use caution around active work zones and give crews plenty of room.
Overlook Park offers a special combination of nature, history, and incredible views of the Ohio River and Newburgh Locks and Dam. We appreciate everyone’s patience as this work is completed and thank American Eagle Tree Service for their work on behalf of the Town of Newburgh.

On Friday, September 18, the Town of Newburgh hosted a dedication ceremony for the new improvements at the Lou Dennis Communtiy Park. These features include the new playground and the Robert Emmett Griffin Obstacle & Fitness Zone. This event celebrated the people, organizations, and funding partners who helped make the new improvements at Lou Dennis Community Park possible.

What a night to celebrate the Town of Newburgh and the power of community! ✨

At E-REP’s Annual Meeting & Dinner — The First Five, more than 600 business, civic and community leaders gathered at the Ford Center to celebrate five years of partnership, progress and people working together to move the Evansville Region forward.

We were incredibly proud to see the Lou Dennis Community Park Playground Project recognized with a Regional Motivators Award. 🏆

This playground represents much more than a beautiful new place for children and families. It represents what can happen when a community shares a vision, works together and invests in its future.

And this recognition belongs to everyone who believed in the project — our Town Council, the Newburgh Parks Board, the Newburgh Park Pals, our Town staff, our community partners, and the more than 80 individuals and families who donated to help make the project possible.

Most importantly, this award belongs to the people of Newburgh.

Thank you to E-REP for recognizing the impact this project is making in our community and across the region. We are proud of what was accomplished together — and even more excited about what comes next.

🇺🇸 DAY OF CARING — THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS! ❤️🤍💙

Today, the Town of Newburgh and Newburgh Park Pals were proud to participate in the United Way of Southwestern Indiana’s Annual Day of Caring, held in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of Patriot Day and the National Day of Service and Remembrance honoring the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

Our original plan was to work on the construction of a new sand volleyball court at Lou Dennis Community Park. Mother Nature had other plans! Overnight rains left the project area too wet to work, but that didn’t stop our volunteers from making a difference.

A huge THANK YOU to the volunteers from Kaiser Aluminum Warrick who quickly pivoted and spent their morning cleaning up along the Newburgh Rivertown Trail. Their hard work resulted in bags of trash being removed and helped make one of Newburgh’s most popular recreational areas cleaner and more enjoyable for everyone.

We also want to extend a special thank you to Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc., a CRH Company, for their generous assistance with the sand and gravel for the new volleyball court. While the rain delayed today’s work, the project is still moving forward, and we anticipate completing the court within the next week or so! 🏐

Thank you to United Way of Southwestern Indiana, Kaiser Aluminum Warrick, Mulzer Crushed Stone, Newburgh Park Pals, and everyone who helped make this Day of Caring meaningful.

🚧 UPDATE: WATER STREET IS OPEN 🚧

Good news! Town crews were able to complete a spot repair on Water Street this morning, and the roadway is now open to normal traffic.

Access to downtown businesses, restaurants, residences, and government buildings remains open.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and cooperation while crews addressed the issue, and a special thank you to our Town employees for getting the repair completed quickly on a holiday weekend.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to keep Newburgh safe and accessible.

🚧 PUBLIC NOTICE: TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTION – WATER STREET 🚧

A small sinkhole has started to develop along Water Street, just east of the entrance to the Marida Restaurant parking lot.

For public safety, Water Street will be closed from the intersection of State Street west to just east of the Marida parking lot access until Town crews can assess the issue. Due to the holiday weekend, the next update will most likely be Tuesday, September 8.

🚗 ACCESS TO MARIDA:
The Marida Restaurant parking lot remains accessible from Jennings Street. Turn south between Cafe Arazu and Cleo’s Bakery to access the parking lot.

🅿️ NO PARKING:
Parking will not be permitted along Water Street from State Street to just east of the Marida parking lot access during the closure.

🏘️ DOWNTOWN REMAINS OPEN!
Downtown businesses, restaurants, residences, and government buildings remain accessible. We encourage everyone to continue supporting our downtown businesses while crews work to address the issue.

🇺🇸 DAY OF CARING – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! 🇺🇸

Join us on Friday, September 11 for United Way of Southwestern Indiana’s annual Day of Caring, held this year in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of Patriot Day and the National Day of Service and Remembrance.

As we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, we invite our community to honor their memory through something that reflects the spirit of that day: unity, service, and giving back.
