I outgrew fairy tales long ago. But after reading a letter to the editor published in the February 19th issue of the Mid Hudson Times, I felt compelled to correct a few of the stories being told, especially when those same stories were repeated and defended so dramatically at the February 25, 2026 BOE meeting. So, I submitted my own Letter to the Editor in response.
That meeting gave my letter more attention than the audit findings. Imagine that. With no public comments from community members, several board members instead opened with a series of prepared speeches about it. The intensity of the reaction made one thing clear: sometimes the loudest objections say more about the objector than the subject. When transparency is treated like a threat, it usually means it’s needed more than ever.
My letter was written solely in my capacity as a taxpayer, and I stand by every word. I will not apologize for telling the truth.
When a taxpayer opinion piece, clearly labeled as such, triggers multiple scripted statements, it says far more about the state of the district than anything in the letter itself. I do appreciate the unexpected publicity… thank you for the extra clicks.
Since my letter received such a formal rollout, I’m sharing the original here again, without the scripts, staging, jazz hands, or coordinated commentary.
