Good rehearsal last night. Thanks to all for your cooperation. With a couple more rehearsals we'll be ready to perform a fine concert. We're planning to break out the new sound equipment next Tuesday. The trailer will be at the school at 5:15 to allow a few extra minutes to get everything inside. A few extra hands to help get stuff inside will help avoid delay the start of rehearsal. Here is the concert order that Jerry posted on the board:

Fall Concert
Tuesday, September 22nd at 7pm with rain date of Tuesday, September 29th.
Friday. September 25th at 7pm
- 1071 - An American Fanfare
- 964 - Star Spangled Banner - Swearingen arrangement
- 552 - Fantasy on Early American Marching Songs
- 1155 - Superstar - check roadmap on the Google Drive
- 935 - Travlin' Music
- 1167 - Bach Air
- 976 - Silver Quill - Jason Scott arrangement
- 1154 - Selections from Chicago
- 98 - Battle Hymn of the Republic - Carmen Dragon arrangement
- 1168 - Great Rubber Chicken Galop
encore - 899 - Stars and Stripes Forever

- The 'Little' Old Dam Band has a performance a 2:30pm on Saturday, September 5th on Pete Emery's Front Porch at 219 Washington Avenue. I saw some advance material that suggested a start time of 3pm so use your judgement.

Keep practicing the same tunes that have been chosen for our Fall concerts. If you don't have a rubber chicken... i think Karen Gray may still have some. Contact her at [email protected] if you need one.

It was good to see Gary Bornefield back with us Tuesday evening. A thanks to Jerry for hosting food for the normal 'after band folks' and a few others. The Italian beef was awesome!

The tune list for the Fall concerts is attached and all are available from the Google Drive. Note that the road map for "Superstar" is also on the Google Drive. If you need the link please contact me.

- The 'Little' Old Dam Band will meet at my house at 9am this Saturday.... 8:15 or so for donuts and coffee. We have a performance on Pete Emery's front porch at the corner of Washington Avenue and Judson Street on Saturday, September 5th from 2:30 to 5:30. A picnic style lunch will be served afterwards. I will not be there so you will need to take your music along after rehearsal on the 29th. The 29th is also a board meeting.

We should be back at Castle South Middle School next week but stay tuned for last minute changes and remember to practice your chicken!

The concert play list I sent out last week is still valid. This is just to remind you that on Tuesday, August we will meet at Castle NORTH Middle School. Go north on 261 just past the high school and Oak Grove Road. Park in back of the school.

Now... go practice your chicken!

Awesome rehearsal last night. We about have the music presentable but now we need to learn how to play the chicken! I attached the proposed concert list to your last email. The proposed play list also follows this post.

Rehearsal next Tuesday (8/18/2026) will be at Castle NORTH Middle School. Take Highway 261 North past Castle High School and turn right a couple hundred yards past Oak Grove Road. Go around behind the school and park in the back lot. Go in through the door by the gymnasium and follow the crowd.

- No Big Brass Quartet for a while.
- The 'Little' Old Dam Band has a performance at 10am this Saturday at Cedarhurst Retirement Senior Living at 10144 Warrick Trail. Chairs will be provided. I'm not familiar with the performance area at this facility so I plan to be there around 9:15 to check it out.

We've added a new tune to our library. It's called "The Great Rubber Chicken Galop" by Randall Standridge - #1168. There are lots of opportunities for a percussionist to show off and we might well find this one on the program for our Fall concert. You can find several recordings by searching The Web. It's been added to the Google Drive. If you've lost the link please set us know. There will be a couple of copies available at our next rehearsal if you don't have time to download your copy.

Our next rehearsal on Tuesday, July 28th will be about the same as the last one. We're still not 100% sure if the school cleaning schedule will affect us but stay flexible.

Just a 'heads up' for our next rehearsal on Tuesday, July 21st. Jerry mentioned that Jon Patton will likely be conducting tune #1154 "Selections from Chicago" at our Fall concert so make sure to have it in your current folder.

Here's the music list for our next concert:
#1154 - Selections from Chicago
#1071 - American Fanfare
#571 or #964 - Star Spangled Banner
#891 - Jersey Boys
#552 - Fantasy on an Early American Marching Tune
#935 - Travlin' Music
#976 - Silver Quill - Jason Scott arrangement
#564 - Georgia on My Mind
#994 - An American Spectacular
#989 - Can't Help Falling in Love
#259 - Emblem of Unity
(Jerry may call up other tunes from the Spring concert list. Please note that anything on the Google Drive is still 'fair game'). You might want to check to make sure you have the Jason Scott arrangement of "Silver Quill" and not the Nestico one.

In keeping with tradition... we'll be jumping right to Christmas rehearsals after our Fall concerts so you might as well start getting things in order. Here is a list of the Christmas tunes that Jerry suggested a while back. There are several new ones so please be aware:
#1156 - Christmas Time is Here
#1157 - The Joyful Rose of Winter
#1158 - The First Noel
#1159 - A Holiday Galop
#1160 - Mary, Did You Know?
#1161 - Merry Christmas Everyone
#1165 - Drummer Boy's Bolero
#1162 - Somewhere in My Memory
#1166 - Auld Lang Syne March
#1163 - Here Comes Santa Claus (Santa Claus will enter during this tune and there will be a closing photo op for families and friends)

All of the tunes for the rest of 2026 are on the Google Drive. Let us know if you need the link or need help with your music.

- No Big Brass Quartet (BBQ) until later notice.

At the moment... we know nothing about cleaning schedules at Castle South Middle School so stay tuned further notifications.

- The 'Little' Old Dam Band will meet on Saturday , 1st. We have a performance coming up on Saturday, August 15th from 10 to 11am at Cedarhurst Assisted Living on Warrick Trail. Make a note on your calendar that we just added another performance for The Haynie Corner 'Front Porch Festival'. We'll once again be playing on Pete Emery's front porch from 2 to 4pm on Saturday, September 5th.
