Hudson Valley Jamboree

In July, the BSA announced that it would be postponing the 2021 National Jamboree. Hopefully this is not new news to your family, but if it is you can read more about it here:

Initially it seemed like there may be further news and potentially a reschedule date for the National Jamboree so the Hudson Valley Council contingent committee decided to pause our efforts rather than take quick action. It's become more clear now a full month later that further news regarding the Jamboree may not come for some time.

The contingent committee has now made the decision to close down our council Jamboree operations for the 2021 cycle. We're going to dissolve the council committee, selected leaders, and registered participants.

Thank you for your spirit and enthusiasm for the National Jamboree. I am disappointed that we're not going to fulfill our vision to prepare adult leaders and youth participants to experience the camaraderie and high adventure of the 2021 National Jamboree in a healthy, safe, purposeful, and fun way. I know that our council committee and unit leaders would have surpassed that vision. Thank you to those volunteers who served.

The Hudson Valley Council is challenging scouts of all ages to design the council contingent patch set! Your concepts and/or designs could be the inspiration for the patches scouts will wear to the 2021 National Jamboree!!
The winning submission will win a collector’s patch set! The deadline to enter is August 31. Submit your design today!!!

There are only a few days left to apply for a National Jamboree scholarship. The deadline is April 30, 2020. In order to apply, you must do so during the registration process. Please contact us if you need help registering!

The deadline for scholarship funding for the National Jamboree is May 31, 2020. In order to apply for this support you must complete the application during the registration process. Head to hudsonvalleyscouting.org/jamboree for more information on the registration process.

Today's the day!

Our Camp Nooteeming and Camp Bullowa open houses are today!

Camp Nooteeming Welcome Center 9am - 12noon
Camp Bullowa Training Center 1:30pm - 4:30pm

Please arrive at least 30 minutes before closing in order to begin registration during the open house. Bring your membership number with you!

The National Jamboree does have a need-based scholarship fund. Applications for that funding are due by April 31, 2020 with your completed registration for the National Jamboree. If funding is a concern, let's talk about that at our open house tomorrow. Camp Nooteeming Welcome Center 9am - 12noon, Camp Bullowa Training Center 1:30pm - 4:30pm.

There has been some concern expressed about what impact that the BS filing Chapter 11 may have on the National Jamboree. Rest assured that the Jamboree will go on as scheduled with no impact of the Chapter 11 filing.

If you'd liked to discuss this, or any other Jamboree-related questions, come by this Saturday to our open houses at Camp Nooteeming and Camp Bullowa.

We're still working on a date for an open house to be held in the western portion of the council. It doesn't look like we'll be holding one at Delaware Valley HS after all. If you were thinking of holding out until another open house date was announced, you may want to reconsider and come to one of our open houses this Saturday instead.
