Be part of the conversation & most importantly - the celebration - surrounding the City of Newburgh and efforts to clean up & protect water.

Join the procession through the City of Newburgh, carrying bold puppets that reflect historic contamination & clean water issues that are part of everyone’s lives. Commemorate the waters flowing into and through our great city and the ongoing advocacy and progress made to ensure clean water for all! 💧

Join us on Saturday, August 29, from 11am. to 3pm. Gathering/Assemble at 11am at Safe Harbors Green with a Parade Kick-off at 12noon & followed by light meal to enjoy by all. Can’t wait to see you there! 🤩

A big thank you to Wireworks Studios! 🫶🏽
As we continue to wrap up the 2026 Environmental Justice Fellowship, we want to take a moment to recognize Sisha Ortuzar and the Wireworks team for generously welcoming us into their space throughout the summer.

Wireworks became a home base for our Fellows, a place where we could gather, learn, share ideas, have meetings, debrief after workshops, and build community together. Having access to a creative and welcoming place made a meaningful difference in our Fellowship experience.

We’re especially grateful for Sisha’s continued commitment to sharing Wireworks with local
non-profits and community members. This beautiful
co-working space creates opportunities for collaboration, connection, and collective work right here in Newburgh. 🌱

Two weeks ago, we wrapped up the 2026 Environmental Justice Fellowship, supported by the Orange County the SYEP Program!
Throughout five weeks, our Fellows explored the many ways we rely on trees and green spaces—from improving our environment to helping save human lives. They also learned how to gather information, tell stories, and use that knowledge to advocate for more trees and accessible green spaces throughout the City of Newburgh.

Working alongside community allies, the Fellows gained hands-on experience through tree stewardship, pollinator meadow maintenance, community building, art-making, and graphic design for environmental advocacy, including creating materials in both English and Spanish to help make information more accessible to our community.

🌱 From learning about the trees around us to finding creative ways to advocate for them, this year’s Fellows reminded us that environmental justice is also about community, access, belonging, and having a voice in the future of our city.

Thank you to all of our community partners, allies, and especially our 2026 Fellows for making this summer so meaningful. 💚

Free showing of the Great Trees of Newburgh exhibit this Friday 4-7pm at ADS Gallery. We will serve wine and cheese and invite folks to share their own favorite great tree!
