Alexi Navlny.
A champion of democracy and a man of unyielding dedication and bravery to the cause of freedom for his people and by extension all of us. He was a very real revolution in our time, standing up to Vladimir Putin and the oppression and suppression of the Russian people. In the time of the internet, he spoke to all us regularly in from in between unjust prison sentences. Vladimir Putin poisoned him with radiation in Russia and then forbade Navalny's wish to go to Germany for proper treatment. Still Alexi Navlny overcame and continued the fight. He went right back to work. The reality of his illegal imprisonment and now his death, at the hands of the dictator Vladimir Putin, affects all of us, especially during this time when for the first time in my life I hear Americans openly welcoming dictatorship and fascism. Former president Trump praises dictators and this kind of complete disregard for our civil rights. "If the supreme leader doesen't like you , he has the right to kill you". How can we even be considering a system like that? Being ruled by AI algorithms tasked with being the architects of long term peace, health, and prosperity would be a better choice. Think again, people, think again. Democracy is very far from perfect, but it is the best system humans have conceived so far. Everyone counts, everyone has a voice. We can't give up. The work continues, we need to keep improving it, making it more fair, more inclusive, more bold. Because having the supreme leaders' knee on our neck, because we got so cyncical, that we elected them to do so, is unforgivable. Rest in Peace. Alexander Navlny
