The Traveling Highlander has made it down to our nation’s capital! 🏛️

Meet Will Hall, a 2021 architecture graduate who is now a Federal Team Architect with Leo A Daly!

Will began getting involved with the NJIT alumni community as a Chapter Advisor for Pi Kappa Phi and is excited to continue giving back as the newest member representing Greek Life on the NJIT Alumni Association Board.

One of his favorite recent alumni experiences was attending Embassy Night at the Sri Lanka Embassy this past June with his wife!

Fun fact: Will was part of a team that cycled 1,000 miles across Florida to raise money and awareness for people with disabilities through Pi Kappa Phi’s philanthropy, The Ability Experience. The team raised a record-setting $225,000 for the organization! 🚴‍♂️💙

Happy Hispanic and Latine Heritage Month! As a Hispanic Serving Institution, NJIT is proud to devote this next month to recognize and celebrate the diverse and rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latine communities across the nation and within our campus community.

The theme for this month is Unidos, Somos Mas (Together, We Are More). NJIT is an incredibly diverse community where we come together because we recognize the value of our diverse community and that when we are together, we understand we are more and we are better together as one.

We are excited to come together to kick off the month with our annual opening celebration on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM in the Upper/Lower Greens. This event, and all events throughout the month to celebrate Hispanic and Latine Heritage Month are open to everyone within the NJIT community. Please see below for a calendar of events taking place at NJIT to celebrate Hispanic and Latine Heritage Month.

We hope you will join us as we celebrate Hispanic and Latine Heritage Month at NJIT and continue building a community that embraces diversity, values inclusion and centers belonging.

🚲The Traveling Highlander cycled its way through New York this summer and made a very special stop at Niagara Falls!

This adventure featured Damian “DJ” Buccine Jr. ’25, who brought our mascot along for the ride as he cycled with fellow NJIT Pi Kappa Phi brothers during Gear Up New York. Together, their team raised more than $170,000 for The Ability Experience.

DJ earned his degree in Architecture and is currently working at Rosen Kelly Conway Architecture and Design in Summit, NJ, where he previously interned for two years. In his role, he specializes in high-end residential renovations and additions.🏠

Since graduating, DJ has continued to stay involved with NJIT by attending and volunteering at alumni events, including the Alumni Resume Panel. He also encouraged his firm to attend the NJIT Career Fair, which resulted in two fellow NJIT Architecture alumni joining the company!

DJ also remains actively involved with Pi Kappa Phi, which he credits with helping him maintain his connection to NJIT. As DJ shared, “My fraternity has done most of the heavy lifting in my continued involvement with NJIT. It has presented a plethora of opportunities and opened many doors for me,” including the opportunity to participate in the Gear Up bike ride.

Fun fact: DJ loves to challenge himself athletically and has continued playing baseball since he was young.

We can’t wait to see where the Traveling Highlander heads next!👀

NJIT continues to prove that a Highlander degree pays off! 🎉

Ranked No. 10 among public colleges nationwide for return on investment by Stacker, NJIT offers graduates a projected $1.7 million in 40-year net value. ⚔️

Add that to being ranked No. 1 among New Jersey public universities for alumni salaries and value by The Wall Street Journal, and it’s clear, an NJIT education delivers long after graduation. 🎓

✈️ The Traveling Highlander landed in Boston!

This stop features Anna Wadhwa ’21, who brought our mascot along while sharing what life after NJIT has looked like for her. Anna majored in Biochemistry with minors in Mathematical Biology and Philosophy & Applied Ethics, and she’s now an MD-PhD student at Harvard–MIT Health Sciences and Technology, studying spaceflight biology. 🚀🧬

While reconnecting with fellow Highlanders, Anna loved meeting alumni from different class years and swapping NJIT memories. Anna says, “It’s always amazing to see how our community stays connected no matter where they land”.

Fun fact: Anna has a Russian Blue cat named Laika — inspired by the first animal sent to space during Sputnik 2 mission! 🐱🌌

High above the city with the Highlander community 🏙️

We hosted an alumni event in Boston at the stunning View Boston — and it did not disappoint. With incredible panoramic views of the city as our backdrop, NJIT alumni and friends gathered to reconnect and celebrate the strength of our Highlander network.

The energy in the room was amazing, and the turnout made this event even more special. Here’s to many more opportunities to bring our Boston Highlanders together!
