ough education, advocacy, the review and promulgation of public policies, training, and through organizing and technical assistance

The NJEJA is not only geographically diverse but is also the only statewide environmental organization in New Jersey that has a significant number of people of color in its membership and leadership. This diversity is one of the NJEJA’s most important assets and allows it to bring a unique perspective to issues that is otherwise often absent in mainstream environmental policy discussions within New Jersey.

In the middle of a summer heatwave, a water main break left Paterson residents without clean water for drinking, bathing, or cooking. In response, the community did what it does best: pulled together resources and looked out for one another.

Together, NJEJA and the Paterson Alliance partnered to host multiple water distribution days, allowing residents to fill jugs with clean water to stay hydrated during some of the hottest days on record.

As we enter 2026, NJEJA will continue to stand alongside communities on the frontlines of support, and we hope you’ll join us.

🏭💨😷Remember when deadly smog filled our air, rivers were on fire, and toxins poisoning us was the norm? 55 years ago, pressure from millions of people led the government to create the Environmental Protection Agency. ’s mission is supposed to be to protect our health and our right to clean water, air, and land - yet, the Trump administration is gutting the EPA, giving polluters free rein with historic rollbacks, harming the health and lives of people of color and low-income the most.

The good news? We the people had the power to create the EPA, and we still have the power to make sure it actually fulfills its mission by protecting us ALL. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼

Led by Moving Forward Network, Climate Justice Alliance, Equitable and Just National Climate Platform, Environmental Justice Health Coalition, and EJ Forum — we are calling on you to join us in ringing the alarm on EPA’s plans to rollback vital protections, and demand better.

The coalition, representing millions of frontline and fenceline community members, will not stand for EPA’s proposals to revoke critical protections, erase environmental justice, and gut EPA funding, research, staff, air monitoring, and investments.

Clean air and a livable planet are not a privilege. They are our rights!

This year, our 2025 Youth Climate Ambassadors got the chance to gain hands-on experience in urban farming, natural environment education, and climate leadership skills, all while learning about careers geared toward local sustainability. From fishing and wildlife lessons with the NJDEP to resume-building workshops, our program is preparing the next generation of climate leaders in the fight for clean air, green jobs, and just futures.
