Our Story
Delmarva Severe Weather Center is an NGO run by Adam Weiner, a junior Meteorology Major at Millersville University. This page is meant to provide up-to-date weather information and resources for those living on the Delmarva to help them stay prepared and weather aware. Due to my college commitments and obligations, updates will be more sporadic during the college semester, and more frequent during breaks. Since this page is not for a business and is mainly produced out of my own desire to keep the public weather-aware, I do not produce forecasts for pinpoint locations and split up the Delmarva into an “Upper Half” and “Lower Half.” The Upper Half includes all of Delaware and Caroline, Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot county MD. The Lower Half includes Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset, and Worcester county MD, as well as Accomack and Northampton county VA. There are a wide variety of weather pages on Facebook with operators who possess a wide range of education in the field of meteorology. I am currently in my sophomore year of studying Meteorology at Millersville University and have plans to attend graduate school to attain a Master’s and eventually a Doctorate. However, as a meteorology student I seek to keep the Delmarva informed of impending weather events, and typically share weather bulletins issued by the National Weather Service as an official source. At times I try to shed light on the complexities and difficulties of forecasting, as well as some of the science behind the weather to help others understand what meteorologists have to sort through when making difficult forecasts. I hope you find this page beneficial as a source of weather information dedicated to the Delmarva, as many other pages encompass a larger region and tend to leave out the finer details which this region demands due to our unique geography. Thank you for your interest in being more weather-aware, thank you for those who have been with me for awhile, and for those who are new, welcome aboard!
