DIEEC had a wonderful time tabling at Coast Day alongside our fellow University of Delaware units. Young visitors loved diving into our Dig Into a Story Box, sifting through to find characters and ocean creatures from our featured children's books- a hands-on book extension designed to support early literacy!

While the kids explored, we had great conversations with parents and community members about why early literacy matters and how DIEEC supports early care and education programs across Delaware.

October is Head Start Awareness Month!

All month long, we’re celebrating the children, families, and staff who make New Directions Early Head Start so special and sharing a little more about what Early Head Start is all about!

Early Head Start is more than just early childhood education. Through home visiting, family support, developmental screenings, and connections to community resources, we partner with expectant families and families with children from birth to age three to build strong foundations for lifelong learning and success.

From supporting healthy development to empowering parents as their child’s first and most important teachers, we’re here to help children and families learn, grow, and thrive together.
