The Office of Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery had an amazing time connecting with residents during the **2026 Food Truck Friday Series** hosted by Gateway U!

From sharing resources and information to having meaningful conversations with community members, our team was proud to engage with Newark residents in a positive and welcoming environment filled with great food, music, and community spirit.

๐Ÿค Every interaction helps us build stronger relationships and create opportunities for connection, support, and healing. Events like these are an important part of **shifting the culture to think about trust, healing, and resilience**โ€”meeting people where they are, listening to their needs, and strengthening the bonds that make our communities safer and stronger.

๐Ÿ’™ Together, we are creating spaces where residents feel seen, supported, and empowered.

๐Ÿšจ **CITY-WIDE DRIVE-UP & GO FOOD DISTRIBUTION** ๐Ÿšจ

1,000 boxes of food will be distributed to Newark residents only on a first come, first served basis

EVERY WEDNESDAY STAY TUNED FOR THE NEXT LOCATION

Presented on behalf of the City of Newark and Mayor Ras J. Baraka.

In Newark, public safety starts with community.

The City of Newark Office of Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery continues to invest in and support programs that bring people together, build trust, and support families where they need it most. This work reflects the Officeโ€™s first pillar: **Supporting Communities** โ€” empowering residents to take an active role in creating public safety.

Through the Hello Fresh Food Distribution Initiative, residents are provided with access to healthy meals and essential resources that strengthen the well-being of our neighborhoods.

But this program is about more than food.
Itโ€™s about connection.
Itโ€™s about showing up for one another.
And itโ€™s about creating safer, healthier communities together.

When families have access to support and resources, it helps reduce stress, promotes wellness, and creates opportunities for positive community engagement. By working alongside residents, community leaders, and local organizations, Newark continues to empower communities to take an active role in creating public safety from the ground up.

Together, we are building stronger neighborhoods, stronger relationships, and a stronger Newark.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Strengthening Communities, Building Hope

When communities come together, real change happens.
The City of Newarkโ€™s Office of Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery (OVPTR) continues to lead with a vision rooted in trust, healing, empowerment, and collaboration. Through strategic partnerships and community engagement, weโ€™re creating safer neighborhoods and stronger futures for all Newark residents.

๐Ÿ’™ Our Four Strategic Goals:

โœ… Mobilizing community members and law enforcement around neighborhood needs
โœ… Shifting the culture toward trust, healing, and resilience
โœ… Investing in people and resources that prevent violence

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ โ€œPublic safety begins when community members believe their voice matters.โ€
