We here at AAVE Doula Collaborative wanted to formally introduce ourselves especially for those that may be unaware of what we do and or who we are.
At AAVE Doula we empower doula careers through specialized training programs, webinars and workshops. As of October 2024, our organization has been working closely with the NJ Dept of Health as the Medicaid & Business agency of the DLC. The former DLC called NJDLC was operated by one entity in partnership with NJDOH and HealthConnect One since the launch of New Jersey's Medicaid doula benefit in 2021. In July 2024, the DLC was re-structured into two components - A) 3 training agencies and B) 1 medicaid/business agency. Our organization was awarded B component becoming the sole medicaid and business agency. As the Medicaid & Business agency, our goal is to help doulas have a seamless Medicaid/MCO enrollment process and understand claims/billing while building powerful community doula connections as doulas kick start their independent doula careers. In order to make this possible we, at AAVE Doula have developed multiple avenues to support doulas in their journey which are outlined below.
Opportunity 1:
Starting November 2025, doulas will be able to book an online virtual session with a member of AAVE Doula to have their Medicaid application reviewed to ensure they are submitting clean applications to Gainwell and the Doula Guides. This opportunity is to decrease potential enrollment delays and confusion for doulas. See flyer.
Opportunity 2:
Doulas interested in enrolling into Medicaid that have taken an approved doula training, may join our virtual Medicaid 411 webinar to see an overview of the enrollment process, what to expect and ask unlimited questions. See flyer.
Opportunity 3:
Doulas that are currently enrolled in all or 1 of the 5 Medicaid MCO's will have the opportunity to speak directly with MCO staff, receive MCO updates and hopefully resolve personal claims/billing matters in our quarterly Doulas & MCO's workshop. See flyer.
Opportunity 4:
Doulas that are interested in working for themselves (independently) have an opportunity to sign up for AAVE Doula's Medicaid & Business 1 day in-person workshop. In this workshop we go over Medicaid enrollment, MCO outreach including claims/billing, systems to enroll in/use, and cover business basics (safety, health, legal, contract, etc.). See flyer.
Opportunity 5:
Doulas throughout the state of NJ or nearby have the opportunity to come together, chat, learn and build community at our AAVE Doula Chat & Learn in-person series. This event will take place once per quarter and no doula related topic is off limits. Supporters of the doula community including medical providers, advocates, politicians, etc., are welcomed. See flyer!
More opportunities coming soon including our Community Based Doula Trainings. As always for doulas by doulas! ๐ซ
