Transformation Newark is a motivating movement encouraging inspiration and influence to promote new opportunities and explore new ways of doing things that will advance hope and progress within the city of Newark. Working alongside us is a coalition of political, law enforcement, commercial-private businesses and educational constituencies who all have come together to rebuild the “walls” of Newar
k, NJ. Our key principles and procedures are Prayer, Action, Knowledge, Goal setting, and leading by Example (PAKGE). This is a replica after the Biblical model of urban transformation in the Book of Nehemiah, a servant of the royal government. The city was besieged with economic and spiritual bondages. Nehemiah recognized the people had fallen from the true worship of God and consequently had lost vision. He was commissioned by God and approved by the king to restore the broken walls in Jerusalem that were a “disgrace, an affliction and a reproach.”
This replica involves seven steps called the “Nehemiah Model”
1. Mission Visualization: leadership that will adopt an action plan aimed at solving the problems.
2. Team Mobilization: combined leadership organized and activated to follow a plan of action to “repair the walls” of Newark
3. Enemy Identification: recognizing the spiritual and economic enemies for who they are that would come to stop the working process of the team.
4. Economic Equalization: Leveling the economic criterion to allow financial viability to all of the citizens of Newark. Also steps 5. Word Saturation 6. Holy Day Observation and 7. Righteous Family Unification:
As was the city Jerusalem, the city of Newark is experiencing “reproach” because of economic devastation (poverty) educational and cultural lag. We have dysfunctional and torn family structure the true needs of the poor are ignored. There is willful violence, political division, corruption and lack of true Godliness which has caused the urban blight and consequently we are in “affliction and reproach”! Only true repentance before God, honest leadership and government, wise business investments, righteous family and community unity and caring for the true needs of the poor, will reinstate our city. The Book of Nehemiah is an essential component of Transformation Newark in cooperation with Dominion Fellowship Ministries, PrayForNewark, Adopt-a-Street Prayer, Harvest Evangelism Prayer Network, Resident Ministers Alliance (ReMA) and other chaplaincies Nehemiah’s model is a key to the success and building of any urban city of reproach.
