NEWARK Y WELCOMES TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS

[Newark, NJ, March 2026]— The YMCA of Newark proudly announces the appointment of two new members to its Board of Trustees - Calvin Ledford, Jr., and David Weiner.

Calvin R. Ledford Jr., is the President of the PSEG Foundation and Director of PSEG Corporate Social Responsibility. In this role, Mr. Ledford has responsibility of management and governance of all the philanthropic programs and operations in corporate citizenship which include corporate giving, in-kind giving, volunteerism, and the PSEG Foundation.

David J. Weiner, serves as President of CWA Local 1081, the Communications Workers of America local representing public workers in Essex County, New Jersey.
Mr. Weiner, represents the interests of union members, working to protect workplace rights, strengthen collective bargaining agreements and promote equitable labor practices.

Both Mr. Ledford and Mr. Weiner are supporters of the Newark Y. Mr. Ledford is often proud to declare that his Y journey started as a camper. Mr. Weiner, on the other hand, has previously served on the Board of Trustees.

“Both Calvin and David share in our belief in the mission of the Y” said Michael Bright, President and CEO of the Newark Y. “Their addition to our Board of Trustees will assist in strengthening the future of the organization and the communities we serve.”

With a Winter Storm expected this weekend, just a few reminders to help keep your family safe:
1. Fill your gas tanks
2. Secure enough food and water as travel may be difficult for a day or two.
3. Check on elders and sick.
4. Have extra blankets and flashlights ready.
5. Keep your phones charged as there could be electrical outings.
6. Most important, make decisions that keep you and your family safe.
