Joan Sebastian Guerrero, only 26 years old, and authorized to work in this country, was shot and killed by an ICE agent on July 13th although he was not the target of an arrest warrant. This is the second time in a week that ICE has senselessly killed a Latino man having recently killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston. These lawless violent actions show an agency operating far beyond its mandate, blatantly taking the law into its own hands by becoming judge, jury and executioner while disregarding due process. ICE has demonstrated itself to be a threat to all of us regardless of our immigration status.
The SEIU NJ State Council stands firmly with our brothers and sisters in the face of these tragic and avoidable deaths, and demands a return to the rule of law and due process for all.
Joan Sebastian Guerrero, de 26 años y autorizado para trabajar en este país, fue baleado y asesinado por un agente de ICE el 13 de julio, aunque no era objetivo de una orden de arresto. Esta es la segunda vez en una semana que ICE mata sin sentido a un hombre latino despues del as*****to de Lorenzo Salgado Araujo en Houston. Estas acciones violentas muestran a una agencia que opera mucho más allá de su mandato, tomando la ley en sus propias manos al convertirse en juez, jurado y verdugo mientras ignora el debido proceso.
El Consejo Estatal de SEIU NJ se solidariza con nuestros hermanos y hermanas ante estas muertes trágicas y evitables, y exige el retorno al Estado de derecho y al debido proceso para todos.
