Happy Friday! Good morning, everyone! You’ve met some of our 2026 NHN grantees. Now, meet one of the community leaders who helped select them! 👏🏽

This Friday, we’re taking you behind the scenes of Neighbors Helping Neighborhoods (NHN) with Quadeer Porter, Founder & Executive Director of Brothers Building A Better Nation and a member of the 2026 NHN Selection Committee.

In this special spotlight, Quadeer shares his experience serving on the selection committee, what stood out throughout the process, and why supporting resident-led ideas matters for Newark’s neighborhoods. 🏘️

💙 Another Friday, another Neighbors Helping Neighborhoods Grantee Spotlight! 🎥

This week, meet Sharon Redding, a 2026 NHN Grantee and founder of Seasonal Smiles Outreach, serving Newark’s Clinton Hill neighborhood. 🏘️

What started during the pandemic with a simple candy giveaway has grown into year-round support for her community. From food distributions and her annual soup-and-sandwich giveaway to coats, hats, gloves, school supplies, and resource connections, Sharon continues to show up for her neighbors when they need it most.

For Sharon, it’s about more than providing resources—it’s about bringing neighbors together, showing love and empathy, and building a stronger community for the next generation. ❤️

Our first 2026 Neighbors Helping Neighborhoods Grantee Spotlight is HERE! 🎥✨

Meet Keys 2 Success, bringing quality music education to students starting in Pre-K in some of Newark’s most underserved communities. Through free, daily group piano lessons, their teachers and volunteers work to remove barriers, nurture young talent, and help students grow into future leaders. 🎶

In this week’s spotlight, Shaughnessy Price and Jee-Hoon Krska, Founder & Executive Director of Keys 2 Success, take us inside their mission, the work they’re leading across Newark, and the impact they’ve seen along the way.
