Newark Alliance is heading for a new chapter! Please join us in welcoming Solomon Steplight as the CEO of Newark Alliance, effective on Sept 8, 2026.

Solomon brings experience spanning government, technology and the nonprofit sector, along with deep personal and professional connections to Newark. His relationship with the city extends from his early experiences growing up to his time serving in senior leadership with the of Newark. Throughout his career, he has led complex organizations, built partnerships across sectors, and helped translate ambitious ideas into systems, investments, and opportunities that can move communities forward.

He joins Newark Alliance at a significant moment for Newark, with new investment and opportunities for growth continuing to take shape across the city.

We’re excited to welcome Solomon on September 8 and look forward to beginning this next chapter together.

What is ViewerCon:
It's a full day celebrating entertainment, storytelling, and community, featuring conversations with Mayor Ras J. Baraka and Joy Reid, Taye Diggs, Karamo Brown, Bevy Smith, the cast of STARZ's Raising Kanan, an exclusive premiere screening of Fightland, and so much more.

Doors open at 10:00 a.m., with programming across two stages running throughout the day until 6:00 p.m.

Newark residents can email [email protected] with "Cookout for Content" in the subject line to reserve complimentary tickets while they last.
They will also welcome walk-ups if residents come to NJPAC and mention "Cookout for Content," we'll do our very best to get them in, subject to availability.
