Happy Father's Day! We proudly celebrated Father's Day with a special event focused on men's health and wellness. The celebration was designed to honor the fathers in our community while providing valuable health-related resources and support.

We offered a variety of health services and wellness information tailored to the needs of men and fathers. Participants also enjoyed nutritious food options, light snacks, and refreshments throughout the event.

As a token of our appreciation, each dad received a gift recognizing his important role within his family and community.

We are grateful to everyone who contributed to making this event a success and helping us promote health, wellness, and community engagement among the fathers we serve.

Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of justice.

At Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark, we recognize the dignity and worth of every person and remain committed to serving our communities with compassion, respect, and hope.

As we reflect on the significance of this day, may we continue working toward a future where all people have the opportunity to thrive

We are excited to see the Residence of St. Martin of Tours featured by Patch following our groundbreaking ceremony!

Developed by Domus Corporation in partnership with CCAN, this new 25-unit affordable housing community will provide permanent housing for veterans and their families who have experienced homelessness. The residence will include 18 one-bedroom and seven two-bedroom ADA-compliant apartments, helping ensure our neighbors have access to safe, stable housing and the support they need to thrive.

Thank you to the many public, private, and community partners whose support is helping make this important project possible.

Preparing for success! 💼

Ahead of a community job fair, our Refugee Employment Services team hosted a "Dress for Success" workshop to help clients build confidence and sharpen their job-seeking skills. Participants practiced elevator pitches, learned how to introduce themselves to employers, explored thoughtful questions to ask during interviews, and received guidance on completing job applications.

By creating a supportive, hands-on learning environment, we are helping individuals take meaningful steps toward employment, self-sufficiency, and a brighter future.

During the Lenten season, the Student Council at St. John the Apostle School in Clark conducted a “Together We Make A Difference” drive to benefit clients of Catholic Charities. School families generously donated a wide variety of personal hygiene items for men, women, children, babies, and entire families and then assembled over 80 Blessing Bags. Before the Blessing Bags were distributed, they were blessed by Rev. Gabriel Camacho, Spiritual Director at St. John the Apostle School. His blessing was a heartfelt reminder that these bags contained not only essential items, but also the prayers, kindness, and compassion of the school community. Each bag became a tangible expression of hope, dignity, and God's love for those who would receive them.

The Blessing Bags were thoughtfully assembled for children, teens, men, women, and families. Each bag included basic necessities such as toothbrushes, soap, and other personal hygiene items. In addition, students added special touches to make each bag more personal and comforting — fun activities and small toys for children, hand lotion for women, warm socks for men, and other thoughtful items designed to bring encouragement and care.

These donations provide much more than practical assistance. While the bags help meet personal hygiene needs and offer comfort to individuals and families staying in agency shelters, they also send an important message: that each recipient is remembered and valued. A special note of thanks to Keira De Maio, Principal, and to Lia Almeida, Coordinator of the Student Council and its members for coordinating the Blessing Bag Drive.

We are very grateful to the student council members and the entire school community for their compassion, generosity, and dedication to helping others. Their efforts truly reflect the spirit of caring for neighbors in need and making a positive difference in the lives of others. Thank you St. John the Apostle School!
