🇺🇸 Honoring 25 Years of 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance

Across Ohio, our campus partners are turning remembrance into action through service.

Through funding provided by the Alliance for Campus Community Engagement, three Triple C campus partners brought their communities together to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

🤝 Marietta College | Faces of Freedom

Through service projects across Ohio and West Virginia, volunteers wrote thank-you cards, assembled care packages, supported first responders, harvested healthy food, and more.

📊 746 volunteers | 579 service hours

🇺🇸 The University of Akron

From displaying 2,977 flags honoring each life lost on 9/11 to supporting veterans, restocking the Campus Cupboard, harvesting produce, and hosting a blood drive, the campus community found meaningful ways to remember and serve.

📊 87 volunteers | 80 service hours

🌱 Denison University

Volunteers partnered with Together We Grow Community Garden in Newark, Ohio, to build six new garden beds, supporting community food access, sustainability, and opportunities for people to grow their own food.

📊 8 volunteers | 24 service hours

Together, these campus partners contributed 841 volunteers and 683 hours of service! Thank you to every student, volunteer, and community partner who helped make these projects possible. 🕊️

That’s a wrap on 2026!

Last Friday, students and campus leaders gathered at Bowling Green State University for Propel Ohio: America at 250 — Preparing the Next Generation of Civic Leaders.

From making new connections to exploring civic engagement and what it means to shape Ohio’s future, the day was all about learning from one another and turning ideas into action.

A huge THANK YOU to our campus partners, presenters, and everyone who helped make this year’s summit a success! We’re excited to see how these emerging leaders put their ideas into action.

We were honored to be part of The Big Table this week, bringing together higher education professionals and community partners to strengthen student basic needs in Ohio.

Our takeaway? There is so much good work happening across Ohio — and so much to learn from one another.

It was inspiring to see connections made, resources shared, and those “lightbulb moments” happen throughout the conversation. One participant shared that the conversation left her feeling more hopeful knowing there are so many others working toward positive change.

A big thank you to the Ohio Association of Community Colleges for hosting us, and to everyone who joined the conversation!

👏 Marietta College recently hosted an AmeriCorps 9/11 Day of Service event, bringing students and community members together to honor the 25th anniversary of 9/11 through service.

We're grateful to have Cael McCutcheon, a member of Triple C’s Ohio Communities Thriving team, representing Triple C at the event and sharing in the day of service.

Triple C was proud to support this work through grant funding made possible through The Alliance for Campus Community Engagement’s partnership with 9/11 Day and AmeriCorps.

Our Ohio Communities Thriving team — Cael, Noah, and Shelby — recently attended the Commonwealth Community and Civic Engagement Forum through our partnership with Engage KY.

The inaugural three-day conference brought together civic and community engagement professionals to connect, learn, and think more deeply about our work. 🙌

We’re excited to see the forum return next year... and Triple C member institutions will be welcome to attend!
