Celebrando el Cinco de Mayo en Mt. Prospect! 🇲🇽
Come celebrate with us and support local ❤️

Happy Earth Day from the Mount Prospect Partnership! 🌳
Mount Prospect is a neighborhood defined by its character and part of that character is the greenery that lines our streets and storefronts. Our plantings and street trees are a labor of love, and today we’re especially grateful for them.
🗑️ That love extends to cleanliness too. Our team works hard to remove litter, keep up with garbage collection, and address illegal dumping so that the environment we’re nurturing stays protected. A greener neighborhood starts with a cleaner one.
Happy Earth Day, Mount Prospect! 🌿

🌍 An Important Announcement from the Mount Prospect Partnership:

In honor of Earth Month, we are making a bold commitment to the environment. Effective immediately, bike lanes will become the only mode of transit in the Mount Prospect neighborhood. All streets will be closed to vehicles, NJ Transit bus and train service will be suspended, and every commuter is expected to arrive by bicycle — no exceptions. We believe this is the only responsible path forward for our planet. 🚲🌱
..April Fools! 😄 We love the Earth, but we also love your NJ Transit train, your bus, and your two feet. Happy Earth Month, and Happy April 1st from MPP! 🎉

TRAFFIC ADVISORY UPDATE - Snow Accumulations of 7 to 10 Inches Anticipated - Sunday, February 22nd

Residents Asked to Be Mindful of No Parking on Snow-Covered Roadways Signs

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., reports that snow is predicted, with accumulations of 7” to 10” expected on Sunday, February 22nd, 2026.

All residents are asked to be mindful of the city’s “No Parking on Snow Covered Roads” regulations due to the expected snowfall. Signs have been posted on streets throughout the City of Newark to notify motorists of the streets designated for No Parking on Snow-Covered Roads.

Motorist are urged to look for the sign pictured below to identify the streets designated for no parking. Police will tow vehicles during the snow Emergency under a city ordinance 23:6–2.

Whenever snow has fallen, and the accumulation is such that it covers the street or highway, no vehicle shall be parked on major roadways or portions thereof.

There will be no vehicle relocations. Vehicle owners will be responsible for towing costs. Residence may park at Newark Public School parking lots. Visit www.newarknj.gov for available lot locations.

Double parking is also prohibited during snow emergencies to enable snow plows to clear the roadways.

Please visit the Department of Public Safety’s website: www.newarkpublicsafety.org. Click Police Division, Media Room, and Weather.

Please call: 973-733-6000 for non-emergency weather-related matters. Dial 911 for emergencies.

⚠️ A significant winter storm (Nor'easter) is predicted for the Newark area starting Sunday morning, February 22, with heavy snow and high winds lasting into Monday. Total accumulation is expected to be high, with some forecasts suggesting 10–14 inches.

I urge all residents to begin preparing now. Please limit travel to essential trips only during the storm, and use caution if you must be on the roads. High winds may reduce visibility and create hazardous driving conditions.

City crews will be deployed and working around the clock to salt and plow major roads first, followed by residential streets. Please be patient and allow them the space to work safely.
