It’s official: Five new housing navigators are now working in Licking County.

Just six months after the Licking County Foundation announced this initiative, five local organizations have hired housing navigators and they’re already working together to help people experiencing homelessness find housing, connect with resources, and stay housed.

Licking County Foundation funds help five organizations hire people who can help clients navigate government and social service systems to address barriers to permanent housing, such as legal, medical and mental health issues, and to find homes.

Housing stability may not be something you have to think about, but for someone you pass every day, it may be a very different story.

It could be the person ahead of you at the grocery store, the neighbor who always waves, or someone sitting beside you at a community event. Housing instability doesn’t always look the way we expect, and we may never know someone is struggling.

A few snapshots from a busy August at the Foundation!

Not everything we do can have its own Facebook post but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to share it! Here are a few highlights from around the county this month:

1. We were thrilled to have a visit from Miss Ohio 2026 Alexis Miller, a Newark native, as she prepares to represent Ohio at Miss America this September.

2. We took a trip to the Microsoft site in Hebron to check out some very large boulders. Why? You’ll have to stay tuned, but we’re excited about what’s coming to Foundation Park!

3-5. We also enjoyed time at the Hartford Fair, catching up with several of our community partners and enjoying one of our favorite Licking County traditions. Always great to see you Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Ohio State - Licking County 4-H!

Today is National Nonprofit Day, and we're still thinking about the wonderful celebration we shared with our grant partners last Friday.

We were honored to have Ohio Poet Laureate Emeritus Kari Gunter-Seymour join us and share an original piece written just for the occasion that celebrates the nonprofits doing the work, day in and day out, across Licking County.

Their work is at the heart of what we do. Because of them, the generosity entrusted to the Foundation by generations of donors becomes meaningful, lasting impact in our community.

Thank you to our grant partners and to all the nonprofits across Licking County for the work you do, the people you serve, and the difference you make every day. Happy National Nonprofit Day!
