Thank You for My Life. ❤️

Photo dump from one of those weeks that reminded me just how blessed I am.

Every day this week, we were outside.

✨ Family time.
✨ Maplewoodstock with some amazing young adults.
✨ Celebrating business mentees at Seton Hall.
✨ Supporting the Verizon Pitch Competition with the Mayor of Hoboken and organizations investing in the next generation.
✨ College Orientation at William Paterson University.
✨ New conversations, old friends, lots of laughs, and a whole lot of gratitude.

A few days ago, during my morning walk, I told myself, “Let me get rich first so I can help people.”

About 30 seconds later, God reminded me…

I already am.

Rich in family.
Rich in purpose.
Rich in community.
Rich in opportunities.
Rich in love.

Still building.
Still dreaming.
Still growing.

But today… I’m choosing gratitude.

Thank You, God, for my life. ❤️

Saturday Morning Thought ☕️

I don’t even watch basketball like that, but as a business advisor, I saw something this week that made me smile.

Everyone is talking about the championship.

I kept reading.

Buried in the celebration was something bigger: a commitment to continue investing in young people through the Second Round Foundation.

That’s a championship move.

Most people spend years trying to get attention.

When they finally get it, they use it to talk about themselves.

Jalen Brunson used one of the biggest moments of his career to shine a light on a mission bigger than himself.

That’s chess.

As someone who works with business owners and young people every day, this is the type of leadership that creates lasting impact.

The trophy is the accomplishment.

The foundation is the legacy.

Saturday Morning Reflections ❤️

This morning on my walk, I said to myself, “Let me get rich first so I can help people.”

About 30 seconds later, God reminded me that I was already rich.

This week looked like ribbon cuttings, student signing days, a video shoot, a prom send-off, family gatherings, mentoring entrepreneurs, client meetings, and celebrating young people who are creating brighter futures for themselves and their communities.

It looked like seeing my goddaughter after years apart, laughing with family over curry chicken and cook-up rice, checking in on my mom, talking wills and trusts with a friend, and being reminded that relationships are one of life’s greatest blessings.

It looked like watching my little cousin head off to college on a full ride and witnessing people like and .with.lynda pour into the next generation.

Somewhere along the way, God reminded me that wealth isn’t just about money.

It’s about purpose.
It’s about impact.
It’s about community.
It’s about love.

If you’re not paying attention, you’ll miss just how rich you truly are.

In 2019, Sharif reached out while living at Covenant House for homeless teens, looking for a job.

I couldn’t offer him one, but I helped him get into school instead. That support, counseling, and community made a difference.

Yesterday, he graduated from William Paterson University with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. 🎓

Congratulations, Sharif. It took 5½ years, but you did it.

Stories like this remind me that determination, opportunity, and someone who believes in you can change a life.

Your community is proud of you. ❤️

This weekend I met a woman who told me she loves photography… but hates her job.

She’s been there for 17 years.

The interesting part?
Her employer is actually one of her photography clients.

I remember saying to her,
“That sounds like the perfect setup. Use the job to help build the dream.”

But her answer was simple:

“Fear.”

Fear of the unknown.
Fear of instability.
Fear of failing.

And honestly, so many people are living there right now.

Not because they aren’t talented.
Not because opportunity isn’t possible.
But because fear convinces them to stop before they even begin.

Sometimes the dream doesn’t start with quitting.
Sometimes it starts with building intentionally while you still have stability.

✨ Fear is real. But so is regret. Have a fearless week !

Happy Day After Election Day.

After walking neighborhoods and speaking to residents throughout Newark, one thing became clear to me:

The biggest issue I saw wasn’t politics,it was hopelessness.

Too many people no longer believe their voice matters or that things can change.

No matter who won, Newark deserves hope, accountability, and community.

This experience changed me. 🖤

Congratulations to Mayor Ras Baraka on his re-election and congratulations to everyone elected throughout Newark. 🖤

And a special acknowledgment to Jhamar Youngblood. Whether people agreed with him or not, it takes courage to step forward, speak up, and challenge systems. I respect his bravery and willingness to engage directly with residents throughout this election season.

Over the last few months, I attended forums, watched meetings, canvassed neighborhoods, and spoke to residents throughout Newark. This experience opened my eyes.

What stood out to me most wasn’t anger — it was hopelessness.

One woman from Georgia King Village told us the rats in her apartment are so large she feeds them peanut butter so they won’t attack her dog.

No human being deserves to live like that.

While this election is clearly a victory for Mayor Baraka, I also believe these numbers should remind us that many people in Newark are hurting and losing faith in the system.

I can’t unsee what I’ve seen over these last few months.

“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise…” Proverbs 13:20

Newark is full of brilliance, culture, resilience, and potential. My prayer is that we continue to grow, listen, heal, and care for the people behind the politics. 🖤
