Jessica was a dedicated Nurse Practitioner in Delaware whose life ended too early, leaving behind two young children. We made history today! For the first time in the American Nurses Association’s history, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs/LVNs) will be able to become full members! The ANA Membership Assembly overwhelmingly voted in favor to amend the ANA bylaws to enable LPN/LVN membership at the national level.

The Delaware Nurses Association is proud to be a pioneer and champion for inclusion of our LPN colleagues in the ANA. We helped write and submit the bylaw amendments as well as sent two representatives to serve on the LPN/LVN Ad-Hoc Committee that furthered the work. Special shoutout to Kimberly Fisher, LPN (DNA LPN Director) and Dr. Stephanie McClellan (DNA Past President) for their leadership on the committee that lead to this historic moment!

There is work ahead to complete but today, we made history! If you are a Delaware LPN, we encourage you to join us, the Delaware Nurses Association. Within the next year we will be able to elevate your membership to FULL DNA & ANA membership. www.joindna.org

We are proud to have joined nearly 500 nurses from across the nation to advocate for our profession, patients, and healthcare. Yesterday, at American Nurses Association annual Hill Day, we met with Delaware’s federal elected delegation to discuss key issues like workplace violence, workforce development, nursing as a professional degree, and much more. Thank you to our Delaware Nurses and nursing students that joined us to amplify our voice and create more impact!
