Lately on my timeline, I've been seeing parents asking why their kids keeps on saying, "6 7...Let me explain the origin of 6 7. The reference, 6 7, comes from a song called, "Doot Doot" by a rapper name, Skrilla. Skrilla is referencing 67th street in Chicago in his song. That song was released in 2024. The song started making waves on social media, especially on TikTok Basketball edits. The most popular video edits came from NBA player, LaMelo edits. There's one particular edit that a NBA reporter was announcing, "LaMelo moves like he is 6'1", 6'2" ...except he is 6'7"...then that song drops with LaMelo's highlights. Now, the real reason why it became a meme and has been increasingly popular started when an OTE player, TK of team RWE, started popularizing 6 7 at the beginning of 2025. TK has admitted that he heard 6 7 from Skrilla's song. TK would respond with "6 7" during post basketball game interviews. Basically clip-farming any chance he gets to say it when asked a question. For example when an interviewer asked TK, what would you rate this win? TK responded like a 6 7, making a hand motion like he is balancing something. Later, TK would create viral 6 7 TikTok videos, making him the face and sort of his brand. The blonde Kid helped popularized 6 7. He went viral for yelling at the camera 6 7 during an OTE basketball game, while watching TK and his RWE basketball team. This helped reaching the younger and wider audience on YouTube and TikTok. He is a fan of TK and he was just imitating TK. The popularity of 6 7 grew even more when NBA, college players and WNBA players started clip-farming as well during their interviews. Today, kids are saying 6 7 but some really don't know the origin or the proper way to use it. Kids today are just yelling it out loud because its funny amongst their peers. However, there are kids who uses 6 7 as a way to answer questions while trying to be funny. For example, what time you went to bed? "Around 6 7" ...and they would just laugh even though its not actually funny 😆😂 and whenever 6 7 is heard or displayed anywhere, kids would reference 6 7 and have a laugh about it.
