When housing costs rise faster than incomes, our neighbors are often left making impossible choices.
Pay the rent or buy groceries.
Keep the utilities on or fill a prescription.
Fix the car needed to get to work or catch up on a housing payment.
At the Licking County Coalition of Care, we see these choices every day.
Our work is about meeting people where they are and helping them find a path forward. We work with individuals and families experiencing housing instability by connecting them to resources, helping them navigate available services, addressing immediate needs, and providing additional support when a housing crisis becomes an emergency.
Sometimes that means helping someone remain safely housed. Sometimes it means helping a family through a period of homelessness while they wait for shelter or another housing option. And sometimes it simply means having someone there who knows the system and can help figure out what comes next.
Housing instability can happen to our friends, coworkers, neighbors and families — and it does not always look the way we expect it to.
