Day one of the Nest2Nest uniform. Wore it to open the rescue's first bank account this morning and a bank teller complimented it before I said a word. The Pikachu pin is load-bearing. 🐦

Honoring an old man's last years. Joe is a 55-year-old yellow-fronted amazon who came to us from a friend β€” and his story is simple: he doesn't do well with change, and other birds in the house are too much for him. Joe needs to be an ONLY bird. One home, one flock member, quiet routine, no competition. In return he'll give you the big, grumpy, loyal heart old amazons are known for. Serious inquiries: message us. Nest2Nest Parrot Rescue. Joe is located in Cambridge Ohio.

A letter from your newly adopted bird. "The things I wish you knew" 4

To the two who chose me last,

You only ever met the version of me that had stopped hoping out loud.

Here is what you didn't see. Before you, there was a door I knew the sound of, and then one day that sound stopped. Maybe my person got sick. Maybe they moved somewhere I couldn't follow. Maybe the baby came, or the money ran out, or the noise got to be too much for them. I don't get to know which one. I only know the carrier, the drive, and a room at Nest2Nest that was never fully quiet. Those of us in there, all saying the same thing in different voices: where did they go.

Then you stood by my cage longer than the others did. You said my name like it was already mine.

So here is the list I've been keeping.

I wasn't being bad when I screamed. I was asking. I didn't have your words yet.

Forgive the first weeks, when I leaned away from your hand. I was counting. Not all hands have been safe ones.

The first time you handed me something green and let me fling it on the floor without getting mad, that's the day I decided this might be different.

The first time I fell asleep on one foot while you were in the room, I was telling you the truth. I feel safe here.

Thank you for the millet. Thank you for the window, and for the bath I made a mess of. Thank you for learning my sounds before I learned yours. Thank you for not being my first home, and for deciding to be my last.

I'll keep singing. It just took me a minute to believe somebody would still be here to hear it.

Forever yours,
the loud one in the corner

Big news from the nest!!! πŸŽ‰

Nest2Nest Parrot Rescue is officially a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity. The IRS determination letter arrived this week, effective September 21, 2026.

What that means: every donation now goes further, and gifts to us are tax-deductible. Every bird we take in β€” the surrenders, the hoarding-case rescues, the chicks in the brooder β€” now has a real organization behind them, not just a family working out of their living room. (Though let's be honest, it's still that, plus paperwork.)

Thank you to everyone who believed in us before there was anything official to show for it. The aviary fund, the vet bills, the pellet orders β€” it all just got easier to say yes to.

The birds say thanks too. Mostly by screaming. 🦜

Meet Carmen.
Moluccan Cockatoo, and the rescue's unofficial loudest tiny dancer. He dances to anything. Music, the vacuum, me waving my hand at nothing. Says "Carmen Baby" plus a long stretch of toddler talk only he can translate. Loves attention, and would like the TV left on for company when he's home alone.
Carmen is looking for his person. Adoptable through Nest2Nest.

Trust isn't something you can rush or schedule. It happens at bird speed β€” small moments, repeated, until one day the bird decides you're safe. No lesson today, just this: the hard ones are worth the wait. 🐦
somewhere out there is a bird waiting for someone patient like you!

Why budgies are underrated
Twenty budgies came in the other week. One home. One kids' cage that kept producing more budgies,
because that's what budgies do when nobody stops them. It took an hour of catching birds out of the
air to get them all here.
People call them "starter birds" like that's a compliment. What it actually means is nobody expects much from them β€” and that's exactly how they end up in a house with twenty of them and nobody counting.
Here's the thing: a budgie is a parrot. Small, yes. Cheap, yes. But they talk, they learn names, they
hold grudges the size of a walnut, and they can live 8–10 years with real care. The oldest in this
bunch is around 2. Some are still babies β€” they've never known anything but that cage.
So over the next posts we're introducing them one at a time, with names and their stories. Because
"twenty budgies" is a number. A budgie with a name is somebody.
First spotlights coming soon. 🐦
