TODAY WAS POWERFUL! đź’ś

Today’s Moving Through the Trauma — A Day of Connection reminded me why creating safe spaces matters.

The feedback touched my heart:

“It was a very necessary and impactful event.”
“I met some amazing people.”
“My only regret is that we didn’t have enough time!”
“Lisa, I’m so glad I came. Keep doing what you do!”

What you didn’t see in the pictures was just as powerful: many people cried. As they felt safe enough to open up, stories were shared, emotions were released, and people spoke about what they had been carrying quietly.

Through grief journaling, healing activities, memory boxes, music, conversations, and connection, people were able to show up exactly where they were—and leave feeling supported, connected, and ready for more.

That reminded me: this work is needed in our community.

Thank you to every facilitator, partner, staff member, volunteer, and community member who made today meaningful. Most of all, thank you to everyone who trusted us with their stories.

🧡🧡 THANK YOU 🧡🧡

On behalf of Hear My Cries, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who joined us for our 5th Annual Gun Violence Awareness Day.

Thank you to the families, survivors, community members, advocates, and supporters who stood with us in remembrance, awareness, and hope. Your presence reminds us that no one impacted by gun violence should have to walk this journey alone.

A special thank you to our community partners, volunteers, and supporters:

Deputy Mayor Lakeesha Eure and the City of Newark, Brick City Peace Collective, The H.U.B.B., Leaders for Life, Mending Hearts Together 4 Healing, Unity Women Empowerment Group, M.O.M.S.A.D., Youth Development Clinic, The Hear My Cries staff and volunteers, All community volunteers who generously gave their time and support. Because of your support, we were able to come together as a community to honor lives lost, uplift survivors, support families, and raise awareness about the impact of gun violence.

To every family impacted by gun violence: We see you. We hear you. We support you.
Together, we remember. Together, we support. Together, we stand. You are not alone.
