How does a Severe Panic Disorder feel like you ask?

Yesterday, I did some work outside getting ready for our upcoming hog roast.

Nothing too major...weed whacking, lopping some shrubbery and vines, raking, and wire brushing and cleaning on the smoker.

Not a problem...kinda painful with the Chronic Lymes Disease I also deal with that mostly affects my shoulders - but anyways...

This morning, as we all know after a workout or extra physical excursion...the body will be feeling it. Extra sore, pangs all over my shoulders, middle back, even in my chest (pecks), stomach etc.

To normal people this'll be like - well crap... that was a work out yesterday and I'm feeling it for sure today!

For me...I have to keep reminding myself that I'm not having a heart attack, blood clots aren't happening in my lungs, and cancer is not developing in my breasts or back. Every - single - twinge that happens, brings my brain up to a panic. I have to actually keep reminding myself....come on - Leisa, you know it was from yesterday and all the work you did (which I don't feel like it was much)... just more than my normal lately because of all the chronic pain I live with.

Panic literally makes you think you're dying...your brain automatically goes for the worse possible scenario. Better call the squad cause here I come Elizabeth kind-of-thing.

I can't help it, I can't control it, sobbing insues, I feel like a puddle of mess....then I remember to tell myself that I'm OK and I'm not dying. Even tho I know where I go when I die - my brain freaks the heck out and it takes an incredible amount of focus to get and keep myself together.

I don't have time for this....we got a hog to roast!!!

Be kind to those around you cause you don't REALLY know what each other is dealing with!!!

I just wanted to say thank you so much for everyone who donated so far to the Hurricane Helene Relief Drive. We took the first load down to Hurricane Express to add to the big truck tonight and when I opened the door for them - they all were like wow... are you kidding me?

Food, Blankets, about 60 pairs of boots and shoes, cleaning supplies, things for the children and so much more!!!

Thank you so much for every single thing you were able to offer. They are going to appreciate every box, can, and container that will be on its way early in the morning to Mars Hill and Bee Log North Carolina!

I want to say a special thank you to Tristan Stoneburner & April Lambert Stoneburner for helping to load the van... those were some heavy totes and boxes and it would have taken me forever to do it on my own!!

Keep these fellow Americans in your thoughts and prayers as they continue a super hard recovery time that will likely take years for a lot of people! We are already planning another trip here in about a month so keep bringing in cold weather Items, food, propane tanks, small propane grills, new underwear and socks, Deodorant, feminine products, baby needs, they will still be needing a lot of these things for months!!!

Look...life can be a pain.

People don't always do what you want them to do, things don't always turn out the way you want them to, and heck...we don't always take care of the stuff we're even supposed to be doing ourselves.

You know what? It's ok.

Life will never be perfect... no matter how hard we try to make it so!

That almost kills my soul as a recovering perfectionist...tho it's getting easier to let things go.

I was one to just do it all myself because I was so afraid of someone else messing the project up, cutting or folding things crooked, not cleaning something good enough, etc.

What if...we can just let some of that silly stuff go? What if the children get a bit messy? What if the laundry is folded different? What if the dish washer isn't loaded just so?

My goodness... can you imagine the peace that might come - if you let someone else handle a project and it actually got done and turned out not too terrible?

Life can be hard. Choosing to always be perfect can make life so much harder!

I'm not saying just be Sloppy... I'm saying - allow for mistakes, permit imperfections, make space for you to guide the youth to how to do something.

And remember to take time to enjoy the moments in life that you sometimes waste always trying to make things on point! I get it... and...it's ok to lighten up a little!

On the look-out for a small camper for a friend that will be living in it for a while. Has to be under 2000 # for her vehicle to be able to pull it and definitely in livable condition or super close! No leaking, no pop-ups, a kitchen/bath area is preferable. Please let me know what you have and where you are. May be able to travel to get!!

Rich Mullins was an incredible musician that brought us some amazing songs...including 'Awesome God' for one. 'I Could Sing of Your Love Forever', and also 'Oh Lord, You're Beautiful'.

He passed away in 1997 in a terrible car wreck but he wasn't alone in the jeep that wrecked. With him, was another very talented musician by the name of Mitch McVicker - who himself, was severely injured in the wreck on their way to a benefit concert.

Dove Award Winning artist Mitch has an amazing testimony and story-tells as he leads into each song - playing and singing with his loop machine as a back track for his Guitar, Banjo, and more. He's super fun to watch and the music is great!

So HEY...my friend Mitch is coming HERE to Newark and I'd love to fill the house to see him play!

You will NOT be disappointed!!!

The concert is FREE and we're simply asking for a Love Offering to help cover gas and expenses for his current tour as he makes US - just one of his many stops along the way. Bringing his amazing talent to our little church is such a blessing and I'm so excited to share this event with you all!!

This happens to fall on our Taco Tuesday night so if you need a Meal before the concert...plan on coming a little early for some Tacos (starting at 5p - also by donation - to support our non profit program we run here called Healing Our Warriors ). Took my daughters and son-in-law out to lunch today. Virgin Strawberry Daiquiries all around at our local Olive Garden.

It was great to sit down with them all and fellowship. Learned more about 'real' olives, the Sahara not only being just a desert, and shared in discussion about generational behavior and what we hope for - for the future.

Before even going in tho...my oldest handed me this HUGE kohlrabi SHE grew and a beautiful little Tapestry she made me for my birthday. First thing coming out from her precious lips was basically downplaying the beauty of this gift and insinuating how it wasn't very good, but she tried, etc.

Oh honey... I'm hanging it on my wall - and it's amazing!!!

We do this too often... decide and declare that we're not good enough. We do it so much that we don't even realize we do it. And our children are listening, and watching, and picking up on it - and deciding and declaring these things for themselves too! Breaking this cycle is hard! And we CAN do it!

It's taken me 50 years to figure this out and I'm trying to reverse these lies I've been telling myself for so long and what my girls have unfortunately gleaned from me while growing up.

The next generation will be better... because we are going to keep fighting to make it so!!!
