🩺 Meet our panelist: Erin McDermott Nance ‘01 🩺

We’re so excited to welcome Dr. Erin McDermott Nance, a proud Marymount School graduate (Class of 2001) and orthopedic surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital, to our Girls and Women in STEM panel discussion!

Erin’s STEM journey started right here at Marymount. In high school she interned with Marymount alumna Dr. Jane Haher, and that sparked a path into medicine. 💙

✨ Jefferson Scholar at the University of Virginia
✨ Graduate of Brown University Medical School
✨ Orthopedic surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital
✨ Assisted in pioneering research on treating femoroacetabular impingement (a hip condition) and presented it internationally

Erin now welcomes current Marymount students to the hospital to learn more about the medical field, paying forward the same mentorship that shaped her career. We can’t wait for her to share her journey!

🔬 Meet our panelist: Kendra Batchelder, PhD 🔬

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Kendra Batchelder, Founder of medara, to our Girls and Women in STEM panel discussion!

Kendra is a researcher turned founder who’s using predictive AI to transform healthcare. At medara, she’s building technology that enables earlier, personalized cancer risk assessment, helping patients and doctors make better screening decisions. 💙

✨ PhD in Computational Biomedicine
✨ Inventor on 4 patents spanning AI, medical imaging, and clinical risk prediction
✨ Postdoctoral training at Cornell University, including entrepreneurship and commercialization
✨ Research funded by the NSF, NIH, NCI, VentureWell, and Qualcomm

Her mission? Turning cutting-edge AI research into real-world solutions that improve patient outcomes. We can’t wait for her to share her journey with the next generation of scientists and engineers!

The Community Bots is teaming up with the Marymount School to bring you an evening of inspiration, real talk, and big possibilities for girls in STEM! 💙

Sometimes getting it wrong is part of getting it right. 🤖

In robotics, a wrong turn or a program that doesn't work isn't the end. It's a chance to troubleshoot, adjust, and try again.

CREA's girls are putting their problem-solving skills to the test as they prepare for their robotics competition in September!

A veces, equivocarse es parte de hacerlo bien. 🤖

En robótica, un giro equivocado o un programa que no funciona no es el final. Es una oportunidad para identificar el problema, hacer ajustes e intentarlo de nuevo.

¡Las chicas de CREA están poniendo a prueba sus habilidades para resolver problemas mientras se preparan para su competencia de robótica en septiembre!
