Andrew’s goal was never just to earn a degree. It was to use what he had overcome to help someone else. 💙
When Andrew received a Trace of Hope grant in July 2025, he was preparing for his senior year at Florida Gulf Coast University, studying social work and working toward a career supporting military veterans transitioning back into civilian life.
When we asked him about the biggest obstacle he had overcome, his answer was personal:
“The biggest obstacle that I have had to overcome is myself.”
After spending the previous year prioritizing his own physical, mental, and emotional well-being, Andrew wanted to take what he had learned and use it to support others through challenges of their own.
His mission?
To help people turn their tragedies into triumphs.
The Trace of Hope direct-to-recipient grant helped Andrew with the practical things that made continuing his education possible: housing, food, gas to get to class, and more room to focus on becoming the social worker he hoped to be.
And from the beginning, Andrew told us he was determined to pay that support forward, which he is now doing in his career.
