Last night, on October 7, hundreds joined us alongside community leaders and elected officials — including Governor Kathy Hochul and Speaker Julie Menin — to mark three years since the day that changed our community forever. As part of the commemoration, we also launched Rooted: A Testament to Jewish Resilience at the
Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust.

Created by Israeli artists DEDE BANDAID and Nitzan Mintz, and curated by Shlomi Rabi of Bridgewell Arts, the installation features thousands of hostage tags and pins that were worn for 843 days, turning symbols of hope and solidarity into lasting history. Rooted will remain on view at the museum through October.

We honor those whose lives were taken, remember those we fought to bring home, and carry all their stories with us always.

Today, we mark three years since October 7, 2023 — a day that changed Israel and the Jewish people forever. We remember the lives lost, honor those who survived, and carry their stories with us as we work toward healing and a brighter future.

As a staff, we gathered to reflect on three years of resilience and rebuilding — and the hope that continues to guide us. Our new CEO, Michael A. Kay, spoke about the strength of the Jewish people and the optimism that comes from witnessing the incredible work of our community and partners in Israel.
