Row New York

Row New York Empowering New Yorkers of all backgrounds and abilities through the discipline of rowing and comprehensive academic and social support.

Row New York was founded in 2002 on the premise that the values instilled through rowing, paired with academic support, provide a strong foundation for success in college and beyond. The Row New York high school rowing program serves student-athletes from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds with high dosage, year-round rowing and academic programs. We serve student-athletes at two sites

(Queens and Manhattan). We provide resources for our youth such as tutoring, career prep, and mental health support so that we are able to support their holistic development and help them meet challenges on and off the water. Our goal is to ensure that 100% of our young people graduate high school and are successful in college. Row New York also offers an adaptive rowing program for children and adults with physical or cognitive disabilities. The program is delivered in English and Spanish and workouts are modified for athletes of all levels of ability. Row New York is building a state-of-the-art $36M boathouse designed by renowned architect Norman Foster. Learn more at www.rownewyork.org

What a way to wrap up the season! 💙🚣

Our School Day Adaptive students spent the day rowing, racing, sharing pizza, and celebrating an amazing season together. We’re so proud of all the hard work, friendships, and joy they brought to the water this year. Until next season!

Last night, our student-athletes stepped beyond the boathouse and into conversations about their futures at Row New York’s Young Professionals Dinner.

Athletes heard from professionals across finance, law, AI, marketing, and more during an engaging panel discussion and networking session designed to help them explore career pathways, ask questions, and build connections.

We were especially excited to welcome Row New York alumna Olivia Orlando-Donovan, Class of 2008, who returned to share her journey from student-athlete to employment lawyer at Ogletree Deakins.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared advice, and invested in the next generation of leaders. Opportunities like these help our student-athletes see what’s possible—on the water, in the classroom, and in their future careers.

Wind. Rain. Pressure. Our student-athletes showed up to States ready to race. 💪

Row New York crews delivered some of our strongest State Championship results to date, earning 44 medals—28 from Manhattan and 16 from Queens. Six boats had top-three finishes and five boats qualified to compete at the 2026 USRowing Youth National Championships in Sarasota, Florida this June!

This marks the first time Row New York has qualified both boys’ and girls’ boats for Youth Nationals in the same year, and our third consecutive year qualifying crews for the national stage.

This moment represents months of hard work, determination, and commitment from our student-athletes, coaches, and community. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us in Saratoga, cheering from the sidelines—seeing so many Row New York supporters on the bridge, around the island, and at the parents’ tent meant the world to our student-athletes and coaches.

Now we need your help getting our crews to the national stage. Travel, lodging, equipment transport, entry fees, and meals add up quickly, and every contribution helps make this opportunity possible for our athletes.

Tomorrow, our student-athletes will be heading to Saratoga to compete in the New York State Scholastic Championship—the qualifying race for Youth Nationals.

They’ve already put in the work. Long practices and hours on the water, building strength, discipline, and trust in one another.

Now, they’re ready for the starting line, and we need your help to get them there.

Happy Earth Day! 🌎 At Row New York, the water is more than where we row—it’s where our students build confidence, community, and a sense of possibility. From the Harlem River to Meadow Lake, these waterways and green spaces make our work possible every single day.

Today, we celebrate the beauty and importance of the environments we’re lucky to call home—and recognize our responsibility to protect them. Clean, accessible waterways aren’t just vital to our sport; they’re essential to the health and future of our communities.

We’re grateful for the water that carries us forward, and committed to doing our part to preserve it—for our athletes today and for generations to come. 💧

Spring cleaning came early this year at our Manhattan boathouse ☀️🧹

Thanks to an incredible crew of volunteers—Associate Board members, parents, Harlem River Community Rowing friends, and staff—we reset the space and got it ready for the spring season, which started this week on Monday, March 2.

In just one day we:
• Emptied and reset the erg cage
• Cleared months of leaves from the site
• Organized equipment throughout the boathouse
• Shoveled snow and cleared walkways
• Cleaned the new dock
• Drained launches and hauled them onto the dock
• Removed a large pallet of leftover construction material

Huge thanks to everyone who showed up ready to work—and to Zach Howell for sponsoring the day. This is what community looks like. 💙

Spring training, we’re ready for you. 🚣‍♀️
