- Founded in 2006 by Deborah McManus -
- Directed by Elizabeth Núñez -

The SoHarmoniums Women’s Choir is a diverse community of singers, aged 20 to 84, with rehearsals in Manhattan. Under the leadership of Founding Artistic Director Elizabeth Núñez, and accompanied by Taisiya Pushkar, the ensemble performs eclectic international works from classical to folk to contemporary. Founded in 2006 by Deborah McManus with just six singers, the choir has expanded to eighty mem

bers from varying professions, united by their common joy for choral performing and the weekly conviviality of the rehearsals. The SoHarmoniums made their Alice Tully Hall debut as guest artists with the University Men’s Glee Club of New York City in 2012, and have since returned with Distinguished Concerts International in November 2014. In 2015 they made their Carnegie Hall debut as part of the JAEXA NY Chorus Festival and Tsunami Benefit, and returned again in 2019. This season the group will perform their spring concert at Symphony Space with an accompanying photography exhibit by Susie Lang.

Still smiling from yesterday’s recording session! 🎙️❤️ One of our earliest members has carried a special idea with her for years, and watching it come to life brought so much joy to all of us. Her persistence and creativity made it happen. We can’t share details yet, but we can say we had the best time creating something festive that just might become part of New York’s holiday soundscape. Stay tuned… 📻❄️

We are still glowing after Thursday night. 💫 🎼

Thank you to everyone who joined us for REFLECTIONS, An evening of Song, Story, and Photography. We hope the evening offered a deeper glimpse into who we are as a choir, and that you felt the warmth, connection, resilience, and joy that make this community so special.

A special thank you to .60.plus , whose stunning photography didn’t just accompany the music 🎵 it became part of it, drawing us all into a shared, reflective space that captured the essence of this community and the universal need for connection in a society where loneliness often prevails.

Our musical hearts are full. 💛

A little bit of their story: In 2005, I met Elizabeth Nunez and knew instantly that she would guarantee the success of a long-held dream of mine – the founding of a women’s choir. The SoHarmoniums officially began in 2006 and within a few years had grown so we could actually have enough singers to present music in four part harmony! This was a milestone for us. Then a very few more years brought us almost up to the size we are today. Throughout we have enjoyed a diverse and sophisticated repertoire at, among other venues, Carnegie Hall, Merkin, Alice Tully, Symphony Space and in various NYC parks celebrating happy city moments.

Hear these stories and more at our upcoming Spring concert on Friday, May 16, 2025.

✨ Strike a pose! ✨

Our women’s choir recently held another photo shoot—this time, a studio-style session right here at our headquarters, where we rehearse and make music together. This shoot had a more traditional feel, and it was so much fun for this small group of choristers to repurpose our space, not just for singing, but for creating lasting memories through photography and art. 📸🎶 See these photographs and hear our stories and songs at our REFLECTIONS Spring Concert on Friday, May 16, 2025.

A few weeks ago, at Dahlia , a stylish cocktail lounge on the Upper West Side, the SoHarmoniums met for another photo session with Susie Lang .60.plus for our upcoming REFLECTIONS Spring Concert.

The elegant backdrop at Dahlia—co-owned by board member and restauranteur Jeremy Wladis, and actor Michael Imperioli and his wife and designer Victoria Imperioli—made for a perfect backdrop as the choir gathered for their glamorous photo session, capturing moments of camaraderie and artistry in a space that blends vintage New York elegance with modern sophistication.

Through music 🎵, photos 📷, and stories 🎙️ the SoHarmoniums shine a light on community, resilience, and the universal need for connection in a society where loneliness often prevails.
