Congrats to Bobby Sanabria , Elena Martinez, and the entire WHEDco team on the grand-opening of the new state-of-art Bronx Music Hall. You can see the images from the three-day celebrations here. My images are from Saturday, October 19th. And a grand cultural center is it!

You can't miss anything you've never had. I didn't miss backyards, the private schools and white picket fences 'cause I never had that. But I had my St. Mary's Park, People's Park, the abandoned buildings to run and play in, Johnny on the Pony, the pumps, and the multiple fires to entertain me. - Joe Conzo, Jr.

The one and only Ricky Flores getting props for the on-the-ground, from-the-inside photo documentation he’s done for 40+ years. The visual encyclopedia of our South Bronx genre.

In the eighties, the Puerto Rican photographer Ricky Flores captured the parties and the people that shaped his teen-age years.

BLAST FROM THE PAST
I went into my storage unit and dug up a lot of precious items. Among them were dozens of the articles I'd written for '¡AHA! Hispanic Arts News,' a cultural magazine published by the Association of Hispanic Arts (AHA), now defunct.

Here I profile the great Manny Vega, who had just opened a new exhibit entitled 'Nuyorican Ashé: Recent Works by Manny Vega,' curated by Charles Daniel Dawson in 2001 at the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute.

An article about the long path and career of multidisciplinary Nuyorican artist Manny Vega.
