The 2026 created unforgettable moments for millions of fans while also highlighting the importance of building more sustainable events for the future ⚡️

This year’s tournament was the largest in history, bringing together 48 teams, 104 matches, and millions of fans across three countries. But with that scale came a significant environmental footprint 👣

Pre-tournament estimates projected:�♻️ 10,600 metric tonnes of waste generated across stadiums and FIFA Fan Festivals.�🌡️ 7.8 million tonnes of CO₂e, with an estimated 87% of emissions linked to spectator travel.

A memorable evening of storytelling, connection, and Ocean inspiration in London 🇬🇧🌊🎥

On 22 June, we welcomed filmmakers, partners, jurors, and Ocean advocates to the London premiere of the 2026 Oceanic Global Short Film Festival at the iconic Ciné Lumière during . As an official activity of the , the evening celebrated the power of film to deepen our connection with the Ocean and inspire action for our Blue Planet 🌎

Guests experienced screenings of this year’s four award-winning short films, taking audiences from the coast of Senegal to the icy waters of Greenland, amongst the humpback whales of Tonga, and along the remarkable migration of wild salmon. Together, these stories invited audiences to rediscover the Ocean through wonder, curiosity, and human connection ✨

Following the screening, Oceanic Global Founder & Executive Director, Lea d’Auriol, was joined by acclaimed filmmaker and festival juror James Honeyborne for a thought-provoking fireside chat exploring the themes behind this year’s winning films and the vital role storytelling plays in inspiring environmental action and reconnecting humanity to the Ocean. We were also delighted to welcome winning filmmakers David Clancy, director of NIO KO BOKK (This Belongs to All of Us), Phoebe Montague Warr, co-director of ŌSENI, and Karni Arieli, co-director of Wild Summon, who joined the conversation to share the inspiration & creative process behind their award-winning films 🎞️
