The Rev. Linnette C. Williamson Memorial Park Association

The Rev. Linnette C. Williamson Memorial Park Association Our four community gardens help unite the community through non-sectarian programs for children, families, seniors, and all residents in Central Harlem.

The Park Association was founded in 1994 as a neighborhood empowerment project for low-income, disadvantaged residents to use our nonprofit, nonsectarian organization as a tool to “learn by doing” while improving their neighborhood. As Central Harlem continues to experience dramatic changes in the demographics of the community, our original purpose has been expanded. We now also serve as a vehicle

to bring together an increasingly diverse racial, economic, religious and cultural population for the benefit of all. The Park Association includes four properties between 128th and 129th streets, the first of which was Williamson, built in 1965. Williamson Park was the first vest-pocket park in New York City and the nation. The properties host an active community gardening program and a summer youth enrichment program for Harlem children. Another distinguishing feature-- its gardens are open for community enjoyment weekdays and Saturdays 9 - 3, weather permitting.
