Today we joined a rally with allies, state elected officials and Nassau County residents to mark the enactment of the ban on 287(g) agreements across New York State. Thanks to the work of organizers, elected officials, and the support of Hochul, local law enforcement can no longer enter into official agreements with ICE or the Department of Homeland Security.

“Nassau County has a 287(g) agreement in place, and it remains to be seen whether [Bruce Blakeman, Nassau County Executive] will comply with the law,” said Natalia Aristizabal, our Co-Executive Director.

We know implementation can be where policies end, and we will not let that happen. We’re here to say: we’re watching. Long Islanders will not stand by while Bruce Blakeman defies the laws and denies our families human dignity.

Daniel most recently served as the MRA-NY Political Director, where he helped guide the organization through the 2025 NYC Mayoral Election of Zohran Mamdani and the 2026 Primary Election Cycle.
