BRAKING AIDS® Ride is the AIDS Ride from Philadelphia to New York City to benefit Housing Works. You look like an activist! Join the movement! Now it’s your turn.

“The AIDS crisis is over.”

For more than 30 years, we’ve imagined those magical words. We’ve imagined that our friends and loved ones didn’t die in vain. We’ve imagined that somehow, we would learn how to stop the scourge of AIDS. Now, for the first time we don’t have to imagine any longer. We have the tools to end the AIDS crisis. With new tools and new political will – and the ongoing leadership of Housing Works and other AIDS service organizations – we have a plan in place to end AIDS as an epidemic in New York State by 2020. And it’s not just New York: the United Nations has established 2030 as its target date to bring global infection rates below epidemic levels. These are real goals backed by real science. If achieved, they will change the course of history. But they will only happen with your help. Ending the AIDS crisis became an achievable goal because ordinary people had our AIDS leaders’ backs. Political leaders made it a priority to end the AIDS crisis because ordinary citizens were willing to stick their necks out and say, “This is where the ribbon meets the road.”

Ordinary people – people like you – took the lead in the fight against AIDS. Join us on September 12, 2021 to do your part to end the AIDS crisis. It’s your turn to step up and say:

“Follow me to the end of AIDS.”

Last Friday, more than 100 activists gathered at Philadelphia’s City Hall to protest cuts to AIDS funding and demand the cuts be reversed. Another incredible BRAKING AIDS Ride is in the books! From the first mile in Philadelphia, including the first-ever protest during an AIDS ride, to the closing ceremony in New York, we’re proud to have brought together dedicated riders and crew for an unforgettable advocacy journey that raised $420,000 for Housing Works Inc. and Philly AIDS Thrift.

What a ride! From a protest at Philadelphia City Hall - a first for an AIDS ride, anywhere - to our closing ceremony in NYC, last weekend was 175 miles of determination and joy. We’re grateful for every rider and crew member who made this year’s BRAKING AIDS® Ride possible to the tune of $420,000 raised. The miles may be behind us, but our impact continues. Thank you for riding with us, cheering us on, and helping us move toward a future free from AIDS and homelessness.

That’s all, folks! In just three days, we marched through the streets of Philadelphia, rode almost 200 miles in red dresses, and raised $420,000 to champion Housing Works in their tireless effort to end AIDS and homelessness. We couldn’t do what we do without each and every one of our riders, crew, donors, and cheerleaders of the Ride. This is because of you, so we hope you had a spectacularly transformative weekend!

We can’t believe this year’s Ride is already halfway through and we’re not ready for it to be over yet! We had an incredible day riding through pre-Revolutionary towns and across the Delaware River into New Jersey. Our crew designed creative oases that had our riders laughing between miles, from pajamas to vampire themes. The lovefest continues tomorrow as we make our way to New York City. But until then… get a good night’s sleep because tomorrow is going to be an epic day!

Mission accomplished! Hundreds of activists showed up in the streets of Philly to demand action on the local and federal level to restore cuts to Medicaid funding and AIDS education. We walked loud and proud through the city, delivering our list of demands to Senators McCormick and Fetterman and drawing crowds from Philadelphia, New York, and beyond. Thank you to everyone who showed up and made their voices heard. We will not be silenced! Just like every one of our riders and crew, YOU look like an activist!

The excitement is building with only two days to go! Bikes are getting their final tune-ups, bags are being packed, and the countdown is almost over. Thank you to everyone who has helped bring this year’s Ride to life. Safe travels, and we'll see you soon!

Three more days until we roll out! Our team has been hard at work preparing the route, coordinating logistics, and making sure every detail is in place so you can focus on the journey. We're almost there!
