Our CRC CARES teams had the privilege of spending time with Occupational Therapy students at Des Moines University—bringing comfort when it’s needed most. These visits are more than just moments…they’re meaningful reminders that no one has to carry stress alone.

We’d love to introduce one of our incredible CRC Cares therapy dog teams — Beth and Kirby from Iowa! 🐾💙

Recently, Beth and Kirby visited a local school, where they made a big impact on students and staff alike. From the moment they walked in, Kirby was all tail wags and gentle energy, bringing comfort, smiles, and a lot of joy to everyone he met.

Kirby does such a great job connecting with kids, meeting them right where they are and making each interaction feel special. Beth is right there beside him, making sure every visit runs smoothly and that both the students and Kirby feel safe and supported.

It’s easy to see the bond they share and the heart they bring to this work. We’re so proud of this amazing team and so grateful for the comfort and connection they bring to their community. 💙

CRC CARE Therapy Dogs provides general liability insurance coverage only for approved volunteer activities conducted under CRC guidelines.

Paid work, private sessions, or contracted services fall outside the scope of our program and require separate insurance.

CRC CARE Therapy Dogs handlers are trained to recognize early stress signals and advocate for their dogs before discomfort escalates.

Sometimes the most responsible decision is to pause, step away, or go home.

Protecting the dog protects the work.

CRC CARES is a national therapy dog certification program offered through CRC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting communities through the power of therapy dogs.

✅ Transitioning from TDI? We’d love to have you!
If your TDI registration is current, we can accept it as you move into CRC CARES—once the following are completed:

• Proof of current certification/registration
• Completed CRC CARES Application
• Completed background check
• Completed vet check

💙 Special discounted membership: $75 (for eligible transitioning teams)

🎁 Membership includes:
• Therapy dog insurance
• CRC CARES Therapy Dog vest
• Dog tag
• Handler ID
• Certificate

CRC CARE Dogs are therapy dog teams, not service animals.

✔ Therapy dogs provide comfort and emotional support in approved settings
❌ Therapy dogs do not have public access rights
❌ Therapy dogs are not trained to perform disability-related tasks

This distinction protects:
🐶 The wellbeing of the dog
👥 The people we serve
🏥 The facilities that trust us

Misrepresentation harms access for those who truly need it and we are committed to ethical, transparent practice.
