It’s time to get involved.

We’re not asking anybody to show up to help set up / break down every single weekend (although many board members & dedicated volunteers do), or even every single month. But if each one of our able-bodied skaters came early even just one day out of the entire season, it would make a huge impact and allow us to continue our programming without interruption (weather permitting).

How you can help: sign up to become a volunteer and specifically indicate that you’d like to help with set up / break down to receive a volunteer schedule and sign up for shifts.

Thank you for helping us keep this incredible skate family going strong for many more years to come!

✨🛼3 day (skate) weekend🛼✨

💿Saturday May 23: Silent H B2B Professa Prince💿
Silent H is a Brooklyn-based selector inspired by the dance floor and the roller rink. What started as a love for dancing and skating naturally led her to the decks, where she shapes a sound that resonates with her communities. She brings soulful, high-energy sets that stay true to the culture. Grounded in rhythm and connection, she creates spaces where music, movement, and community come together. She’s played at Brooklyn Skates and Xanadu and is also a resident of Love City, a collective producing events across the city.

Professa Prince arrived in New York in 2018 — his last paycheck went to the cost of his train ticket from Florida. He began creating long playlists to play off his laptop at parks around the city. As he performed, he watched how people reacted to the music and adjusted accordingly. Since those early endeavors, Prince has become a fixture in Bed Stuy’s vibrant Herbert Von King park where he spins for the community and dancers alike. This is his first set in the Skate Circle so let’s show him a warm CPDSA welcome!

💿Sunday May 24: DJ KL💿
DJ KL is a Central Park Skate Circle Veteran DJ. We’re thrilled to have him back on the decks for his first Central Park set of the 2026 season!

💿Monday May 25: DJ Mike Dominico💿
DJ Mike Dominico has carved a definitive niche with his versatility and trademark style of blending genres and musical eras. This native New Yorker began at some of New York City’s legendary venues, including The Palladium and China Club before expanding his resume to include long-term residencies at Roxy and Webster Hall. Dominico spent decades producing music for major labels including Sony and Universal, and is the creator and owner of the record labels Muted Trax and Digital White. Dominico has been playing in the Central Park Skate Circle since the early 2000’s and is known as a celebrated veteran DJ by the CPDSA community.

Historical and cultural erasure is very real. Stories, examples of erasure, from across the country are surfacing. This roller skater is part of the documentary “San Juan Hill; Manhattan’s Lost Neighborhood” about one demolished and nearly forgotten New York neighborhood.

Roller skating is a part of American history. Skate stories convey community history and culture.

Unfortunately our skate session this Saturday May 9 is cancelled due to rain. DJ Rizzsk8 & DJ Misbehaviour will be rescheduled to play another day this season.

Robbin 💜🛼 Lezly FOREVER.

They found love in Central Park.

On June 15, 1997 Lezly Ziering and Robbin Axelberg celebrated their love with a wedding on wheels at The Roxy.
Though Robbin lost Lezly in 2015, she never for a single moment let go of her love for him. She carried it with her always and shared the story of their love widely and with tangible emotion. We are privileged to share a glimpse of their wedding with you.

May their memories be a blessing 💜

We will celebrate Robbin’s remarkable life in the Central Park Skate Circle on Memorial Day, Monday May 25, 2026 starting at 4PM.

On January 6, 2026 I was elected by the CPDSA Board of Directors to serve as Interim President. This decision was made in the wake of Rob Scott’s resignation as President of the organization, which he served dutifully and impactfully. Rob left very large shoes to fill, and I have no delusions of grandeur. I am certain that I will only succeed as interim President with the continued guidance, care, and involvement of the CPDSA Board of Directors, devoted volunteers, and our vibrant community.

Ida Dupont has graciously agreed to continue serving as Vice President during this transition period, for which I am deeply grateful. I intend to officially campaign to (hopefully) be democratically elected President during the October 2026 election.

I am deeply committed to the CPDSA’s continued success and am honored to help usher in a new era of this historic organization. My primary goal as President is to ensure the continued endurance of the CPDSA by initiating systems that encourage younger volunteers and skaters to get more involved and incorporate the skate circle into their lives. I look forward to the upcoming season and hope everyone is having a fabulous beginning to their 2026!

With gratitude,

Lily Landau
