Center for Earth Ethics

Center for Earth Ethics CEE works at the intersection of values, ethics, and ecology to confront the climate crisis. The Center for Earth Ethics has four goals:

1.

The Center for Earth Ethics seeks to articulate and enact a moral response to the threat that climate change poses to the world — especially to vulnerable communities — and to the ecological destruction that causes climate change. Founded at Union Theological Seminary in 2015, CEE will engage religious traditions, spirituality and social ethics to form a framework for seeking eco-justice. Facilita

ting communication and practical partnerships between secular and faith-based environmental leaders;
2. Innovating in the field of eco-ministry;
3. Encouraging deeper engagement in ecological issues among religious communities and “spiritual but not religious” people;
4. Developing better indicators for individual and social well-being that short term economic growth (GDP).

"Unraveling the Roots of Colonization in New York State: A benefit for the return of Onondaga Lake"

TONIGHT: Tuesday, November 18 | 6:30 P.M. | New York Society for Ethical Culture

Join our friends at the American Indian Law Alliance this evening for Unraveling the Roots of Colonization in New York State—a benefit exploring the roots and impacts of the Doctrine of Discovery and how the treaties can guide us towards repair.

This is a rare opportunity to hear firsthand from leaders of the Onondaga Nation and Haudenosaunee Confederacy, whose ancestors have known the lands of NYC and NYS for thousands of years. The program includes opening remarks from Tadodaho Sidney Hill, a film excerpt from The Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking the Domination Code, a treaty-focused conversation with Elder Jake Edwards and Betty (Lyons) Hill, and a closing Q&A.

All proceeds support the Onondaga Lake campaign.
