The Japan Society Business & Policy Forum hosts public and invitation-only programs about the people and issues that define U.S.-Japan relations in a regional and global context. Convening key players and emerging leaders in both countries to address cutting-edge issues, the Japan Society Business & Policy Forum is an opportunity for the exchange of ideas inspired by the Japanese concept of kizuna

(絆), or togetherness. This week, Japan Society celebrated the graduation of the 2026 Group Mentoring Program, part of the U.S.-Japan Emerging Leaders Initiative.

Over the past six months, 15 mentees worked closely with accomplished mentors, gaining valuable professional insights, expanding their networks, and building meaningful connections across the U.S.-Japan community.

The graduation ceremony featured remarks from mentors and mentees, certificate presentations, group photos, and a reception to celebrate the completion of the program.

A special thank you to our incredible mentors, Stephanie Bowker, Miyoko Demay, Frances Green, and Erika Kingetsu. What a remarkable evening! 🌟

We had the privilege of hosting an exclusive roundtable with Mr. Keishi Hotsuki, Vice Chairman of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group and our esteemed Honorary Mentor, for our U.S.-Japan Mentoring Program.

On May 12th, Japan Society launched the inaugural event of the Japan Society Innovation Series in partnership with Remarkable Ventures, bringing together leaders from across the U.S.-Japan innovation ecosystem for an evening of discussion, collaboration, and networking.

The program centered on strengthening connections between Japanese corporate venture capital firms and emerging U.S. startups, creating opportunities for entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate leaders to engage directly and exchange ideas.

Guests joined us for a thoughtful conversation featuring: Douglas L. Peterson, Murat Aktihanoglu, Eiko Ooka, Hernan Figueroa, Christian Sassman, Tyler Schinto, Ryo Tateishi, Kenji Togasaki, Kazutoshi Ukon, and Jeff Chen. The event was followed by a startup pitch session connecting U.S. startups with Japanese corporate venture leaders.
