A good teacher leaves a mark on the heart…
This time we chose to shine the spotlight on one of the rays of light at Tzohar Halev School in Rechasim: Asaf Malik, a teacher and therapist in woodworking and nature therapy who has been with us for more than 17 years.
Asaf is a man of vision, a trailblazer who always works from the heart. He is always looking ahead and developing every corner of the school. Among other things, he established an ecological garden together with the students, with beds and greenhouses, and led the forest classroom.
With creative hands, he took wood and nature and turned them into powerful emotional therapy tools. In every student he sees a point of light and inner strength. For children who struggle with emotional regulation he creates therapeutic tools. For a child who lost a parent he builds an object that preserves their memory. For children with other challenges he gives the chance to build furniture or games that develop confidence and creativity.
Thanks to him, the school’s woodshop has become a space for growth, development, and healing. Every student becomes an engineer, a designer, an architect, and an inventor. Its walls tell a story of creativity, dedication, and courageous educational leadership.
In addition, Asaf leads the educational vision of the after-school clubs, initiates impressive exhibits every month, and builds empowerment teams for the classroom aides. He is a rock of stability and a listening ear for everyone.
He is someone you can rely on, leaving his mark on the wood, and on the hearts and souls of us all.
Thank you, Asaf, for everything you do! 💛
