Open Style Lab We develop solutions to make style accessible to people of all abilities, through education and research!

Open Style Lab seeks to make beauty accessible to people of all abilities. We do this by:
(i) Spreading awareness about the importance of clothing accessibility for people with disabilities,
(ii) Offering training courses to equip the community with the skills to create clothing that is accessible for people with disabilities, and
(iii) Developing and distributing clothing designs and technologies that will increase the accessibility of clothing for people with disabilities.

This month, we hosted our very first In-Person session of our US AI RESEARCH RESIDENCY 🌟

We invited participants to share with us their dream AI accessibility tools that would make fashion and styling easier while living with a Disability.

We told them to dream big, and they delivered.

The 2026 AI Research Fellows are moving forward with research on the intersection of AI x Disability x personal style, intentionally exploring the main research question:

“How can AI-enabled fashion tools be designed to expand disabled people’s access to personal style without creating new forms of exclusion, false confidence, or harm? What are the minimum standards that should guide the industry when working with AI-fashion tools?”

This is part two of the survey we released in July. Those who have taken the first survey may participate in this survey as well.

Your experiences and perspectives are critical to shaping meaningful and authentic research. We invite you to help advance this work by completing the survey.

We brought Fellows, who were experts in many disciplines, together to dismantle the social norms and rules around Disability, and formal wear

With a cohort full of passion, lived-experience, and expert knowledge, our fellows created beautiful projects that we cannot wait to show

🤝 Our collaborations and partnerships at Open Style Lab have been a big part of our mission of educating and creating accessible design for all abilities. From disability organizations to Fortune 500 companies, each has funded workshops, events or research with the disabled community, advanced our efforts to increase quality of life through design, and enables us to hire disabled employees.

️♦️Established in 2014, OSL is dedicated to creating functional, wearable solutions for people of all abilities without compromising style.
Teaming designers, engineers and OTs to conceive and build accessible wearables that address the needs of and with people with disabilities.
We do this through education, research and innovation, corporate collaborations, and raising awareness.
