AI is rapidly becoming embedded in how people discover, evaluate, and access fashion. The systems taking shape today will influence not only what is available, but how personal style is expressed and understood. This presents a critical opportunity to expand what fashion systems can be, and who they are designed for.

Open Style Lab is launching a disability-led research residency at the intersection of AI, fashion, and personal style. We are convening a select cohort of experienced professionals and graduate students to explore how these systems can be reimagined through inclusive design, grounded in disabled lived experience.

Bringing together expertise across disability, fashion, and technology, this residency will identify new approaches, develop practical standards, and unlock creative possibilities for how AI can support personal style, autonomy, and self-expression at scale.

Each fellow will receive a $1,000 honorarium.

Applications are now open until May 1st, 2026.

Equal Access should be available at every stage of life, and in every circumstance

Access is for everyone.

“LACK OF DISABILITY IS NOT A GUARANTEE
Disability is the only minority that anyone can join at any moment, on top of aging being a universal experience. It is approximated that 1.3 billion people expierence Disability, that’s 1 in 6. Equal access should be available at every stage of life, and in every circumstance
