At A Shared Table Across A Thousand Miles, we created the Story Exchange with a simple idea:
Everyone has a memory worth sharing, and sometimes, one story is all it takes to bring strangers a little closer.

Childhood lanterns, favorite mooncakes, grandma’s cooking, and family gatherings we wish we could relive. Every card held a different little piece of home.

We received so many heartfelt stories that day, and we’ve selected 18 to share with you here.

Some made us smile, others made us a little homesick. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share a piece of their lives with us. Your stories made this gathering even more meaningful.

If any of these stories bring back a memory of your own, we‘d love to hear it in the comments.

And we hope there will be many more moments like this, when we can sit together, share our stories, and find a little bit of home in one another.

A look back at 月聚华埠 · 千里同席 | A Shared Table Across A Thousand Miles.

For one afternoon, Mott Street became a long Mid-Autumn table shared by the community.

People stopped by to make, draw, play, listen, eat, and stay a little longer. Some marked their hometowns on our mooncake map, some met new people through games and workshops, and some simply stood by the street with a piece of mooncake and a cup of tea while enjoying the music.

Art, Live Performances, Hanfu, Calligraphy, Jianzi, Workshops, and Sticker Cards brought together people from different places and different generations.

That is also what we loved most about the idea of “A Shared Table Across A Thousand Miles.”

For many of us living in New York, reunion does not always mean sitting around the same table back home. Sometimes, it happens on a city street, through a familiar flavor, a conversation with someone new, or a small moment that makes a place feel a little more like home.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to all the artists, musicians, performers, communities, sponsors, volunteers, and team members who made the day possible.

Thanks to our Co-organizers of 月聚华埠 · 千里同席 | A Shared Table Across A Thousand Miles: Chinatown B.I.D & Chinatown Partnership, for bringing this Mid-Autumn gathering to Mott Street with us.

The event may be over, but there are still so many moments from that day we want to share.

Beyond the workshops and performances, Mid-Autumn traditions will continue throughout the street.

Meet the Hanfu Society and explore traditional Chinese dress and festival culture, join the Jianzi Club for a few rounds of this classic street game, and watch calligrapher Mr. Xinren Wang create Chinese calligraphy live on Mott Street. The Taoist Association will also join us to share traditional culture and add another layer of Chinatown memory to this Mid-Autumn gathering.

And of course, no Mid-Autumn Festival is complete without mooncakes and tea.

Drinks are generously sponsored by NAYUKI, with Mid-Autumn mooncakes provided by Baken Zhuang and Ajisen Ramen.

Make a paper mooncake, sculpt a Jade Rabbit, listen to jazz, kick a jianzi, and finish the day with a bite of mooncake and a sip of tea.

See you tomorrow on Mott Street.

Our event guide is here 📖🥮

This year, we’re connecting the entire festival through one simple activity: a Mooncake Sticker Card.

When you arrive, stop by the entrance arch and ask our staff for a sticker card. Then follow the event map, explore different areas, join activities, and complete small tasks to collect mooncake stickers along the way.

There are 9 different mooncake sticker designs throughout the event.

Collect at least 3 different stickers, then bring your card to our staff to redeem a mooncake & drink. 🥮🍵

Wondering where to collect each sticker, what to do at each stop, how the artist activities work, or where to find the mooncake map and item exchange?
It’s all in the event guide.

We’ll also have a large event map displayed on-site, so if you’re not sure where to go next, just follow the map and keep exploring.

📌 Pick up your card → Follow the map → Join activities → Collect 3+ different stickers → Redeem your mooncake & drink

One sticker card, one afternoon in Chinatown, and plenty of little stops along the way.

We hope you’ll take your time, explore a little more, meet someone new, and leave with a few new Mid-Autumn memories.
Save the guide before you come — you’ll want it with you on the day. 🌕✨
