But in 1981 the French government nationalized it under the presidency of François Mitterrand wiping out the family’s banking control. Undeterred, in 1986 David, along with his cousin, secured rights to re-establish a banking business under the Rothschild name. In 1987 they launched Rothschild & Cie Banque from almost scratch a bold move that revived the family’s banking legacy and ultimately became the foundation for rebuilding their financial empire.❤⚜️
