On May 10, 2026, UNWLA Branch 135 hosted a Vybiyka masterclass at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church
,and it was truly special.
Mothers, daughters, grandmothers, and friends gathered after Liturgy to learn the traditional Ukrainian art of block printing on fabric. With wooden stamps, paint, and lots of laughter, we created one-of-a-kind tote bags, t- shirts, aprons, blouses, napkins - each piece telling its own story.
It was more than a workshop. It was a chance to slow down, connect across generations, and honor both our mothers and our heritage. Seeing everyone’s creativity bloom was the best Mother’s Day gift we could ask for.
Thank you to everyone who joined, helped, and supported. Your energy and love for our culture made day unforgettable.

Soyuzianky of UNWLA Branch 135, had the honor of attending a breathtaking concert of Ukrainian composers at Carnegie Hall marking the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl catastrophe.
It was an evening filled with powerful music, reflection, and deep pride in Ukrainian culture.
A heartfelt congratulations to the exceptional musicians, Ivakhiv, Steven Beck, and Pavlo Gintov for their truly moving and masterful performance J. Their artistry brought Ukrainian music to life on one of the world’s most prestigious stages.
We are grateful to have been part of such a meaningful evening, honoring Ukrainian cultural heritage.
We also want to send a huge thank you to Representative to the United Nations,
Ambassador Dr. Andrii Melnyk for his inspiring speech and Dr. Svitlana Melnyk for their incredible support. 🇺🇦

On March 29, members of Branch 135 of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America and parishioners of the church in Perth Amboy held a meeting with Mykola Horbal, a legendary figure of the Ukrainian human rights movement.
Mr. Horbal is a renowned 1960s dissident, poet, and former political prisoner. As we continue our advocacy efforts for Ukraine, this meeting offers a unique opportunity to hear firsthand the history of the dissident movement and how its legacy shapes our mission today.

70th Session of the Commission on the Status for CSW7O-High Level side event of Ukraine, “Beyond Peace, Security and Justice’.
UNWLA Branch 135 had the privilege of
visiting the United Nations to take part in a key conversation about women’s leadership, recovery, and justice.
Representing Ukrainian women, we stand alongside the global community to peace, equality, and the resilience of women in difficult times. Our voices remain raised for Ukraine and for women serving on the front lines.💙💛 — with Oksana Konyk and Lucy Dzoba at United Nations Headquarter.

Marking the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a free screening was held by UNWLA branch 135 for the documentary Palianytsia (16+). The film presents a documentary account of freedom, war, and Ukrainian resilience, expressed through street art. Its subjects-American street artists Bandit (USA), Tristan (USA), and Jonny (USA), together with their Ukrainian coordinator and collaborator Kateryna Tymchenko—traveled to more than ten Ukrainian cities during the full-scale invasion to witness, experience, and document Ukraine’s struggle for freedom and dignity. Over 2.5 years, they created 33 murals that have become symbols of memory and endurance.

Today, UNWLA, Branch 135, sponsored a Ukrainian Easter egg-making workshop at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption in Perth Amboy, NJ. Pysanka Master, taught all participants how to transform a real egg into a work of art. A great group of adults and children created dazzling pysanky!
