We started our new year by welcoming energetic baby chicks from the chickens we recently gave to the stay-at-home women for income generating activities. We are therefore looking forward to a productive year.

After we shared the first pictures of our new initiative of chicken distribution to the stay-at-home women, one of our donors made a special donation towards this cause, for 10 elderly women to benefit from the initiative.

On Tuesday, October 28th, 50 chickens were distributed to the 10 elderly women, which would provide both eggs and an opportunity to generate income through sales in the local market.

Together, we are impacting lives in Burkina Faso. May the Lord bless you for your wonderful support.

Yesterday, October 2nd, 2025, was very emotional: HFDH team in Burkina Faso was in the elementary school where late Baïta Barro was teaching, to give out backpacks to her students. It was a very touching moment.

Hope For Desperate Hearts (HFDH)’s board members are back from vacation, and are busy working:

- The 3rd quarter bags of rice distribution to our 70 widows and elderly in Burkina Faso is in progress.

- Our initiatives in Burkina Faso to honor Baïta Barro’s memory is in progress:

*The Baïta Barro Backpack Drive:
151 new backpacks were collected and shipped to Burkina Faso to be distributed in the beginning of October to the elementary students who, late Baïta Barro was teaching.

*The Baïta Barro scholarship for higher education for girls from disadvantaged backgrounds: from their 1st year of college to them obtaining their master degree, HFDH will be paying for our scholars’ college tuition, if they maintain good grades. Baïta loved hardworking people; therefore our scholarship in her memory seeks for excellence.

HFDH’s Board Members are on a well deserved vacation for the month of August. We will be back in September to continue our efforts together.

All the 70 widows and elderly that we serve, have received their bags of rice for the second quarter of 2025, thanks to our wonderful donors.

*Our yearly schedule for the bags of rice donation remains the same:
-1st quarter donation: end of March
-2nd quarter donation: end of June
-3rd quarter donation: end of September
-4th quarter donation: end of December
