We’re excited to share GPFA-USA’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan:
Investing in the Next Generation of Peacebuilders.

For the past 15 years, GPFA has supported education, leadership development, and opportunities for youth and women to thrive. Our new strategic plan builds on that work and outlines our vision for expanding programs, strengthening diaspora engagement, growing advocacy, and building a sustainable future for the organization.

This plan is about more than growth — it’s about impact. It’s about the students, young leaders, and communities that grow stronger when young people are given the opportunity to learn, lead, and succeed.

We invite you to read more about our vision for the future and be part of this next chapter.

Every 3 seconds, a girl is forced into child marriage.

This Women’s History Month, leaders from around the world are gathering in New York for the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) to address the urgent challenges facing girls globally.

In Liberia, 25–36% of girls are married before the age of 18 (UNFPA).

Child marriage takes away a girl’s right to education, independence, and the chance to dream about her future.

For 15 years, GPFA-USA has stood with girls and young women—supporting education, leadership, and opportunity so they can thrive and uplift their communities.

Because when girls are educated, they soar!

“I don't just want to be remembered by young people as someone who sent them to school. But as someone who taught them the essence of our collective humanity.”
— Leymah Gbowee

Let’s continue the fight to end child marriage and advance UN Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality.

One for the books!✨

What an honor to bring together trailblazing feminist organizer Gloria Steinem and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Leymah Gbowee for a powerful, intimate conversation rooted in decades of activism, friendship, and moral clarity.

Together, they reflected on their new picture book, Rise, Girl, Rise—written for young readers, but rich with lessons for all of us. Through their parallel life stories, they explored how inequality is first recognized, how courage is learned through example, and how feminism is sustained through relationships and collective action.

Designed for adults—parents, grandparents, educators, and community leaders—the evening invited deep reflection on how values are shaped, how movements are built, and how stories become tools for teaching, remembrance, and progress across generations.

We closed the night with a book signing and countless meaningful conversations. Grateful to everyone who joined and helped make this gathering such a resonant moment of learning, legacy, and hope. 💛

Twenty-five years ago, the United Nations adopted Resolution 1325, recognizing that sustainable peace is only possible when women are equal partners in preventing conflict, building peace, and leading recovery.

At Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa-USA (GPFA-USA), we carry this vision forward by investing in education, leadership development, and policy engagement for women and youth in Liberia and across the African diaspora.

From classrooms to communities, from advocacy to action — we’re building on 25 years of progress and pushing toward a future where women’s voices shape every peace table.

Join us in honoring this milestone and reaffirming our commitment to peace through women’s leadership. 💪🏾🕊️

✨ What a night! ✨

Last week, GPFA-USA hosted its first event of the year in partnership with the Human Rights Program at Roosevelt House, Hunter College — Peace, Purpose, & Possibility: An Evening With Leymah Gbowee and Richelle Todd-Yamoah.

It was an incredible success — a full house, powerful conversations, and renewed energy around our mission in this crucial moment.

We’re so grateful for everyone who joined us. The feedback says it all:
💬 “It was perfect!”
💬 “Yes, I would attend another event like this!”
💬 “Well done!”

This is just the beginning. 💪🏾

In celebration of World Peace Day, we want to highlight Nobel Peace Prize laureates of the Nobel Women’s Initiative who last week delivered an urgent letter to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, calling for steadfast moral leadership in the face of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. They appeal for compassion, an end to violence, and for all faith leaders and global decision-makers to uphold principles of justice, human dignity, and peace.
