This morning, The Alliance’s Executive Director, Emily Miles, and Deputy Executive Director, Clarissa Espinoza, presented at the 2026 End Violence Against Women International (EVAWI) Conference.

Their presentation, “Empowering Equity: Mapping Sexual Violence Response Systems to Transform Survivor Care,” highlighted The Alliance’s research on New York City’s sexual violence response.

Emily and Clarissa shared some of the critical gaps we identified in our system mapping, including:

• Sexual Assault Forensic Exam access
• Advocate availability and
• Culturally responsive services

We also shared a replicable framework, so that communities across the country can map their own systems, identify gaps, and drive policy change.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning and to for hosting us! To learn more about our mapping findings, visit our website here: svfreenyc.org/mapping-sexual-violence-nyc/

From all of us at The Alliance, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to each of the advocates, providers, clinicians, preventionists, researchers, policymakers,
public servants, donors, funders, and survivors that worked so tirelessly to address sexual violence this year. A safer future, one where sexual violence has no place, would not be possible without you. Thank you for your dedication to making New York safer for all survivors.

The Alliance will be closed from Thursday, December 25th and will re-open Monday, January 5th. During this time, our staff will be taking a well-deserved rest. We look forward to continuing our collective work to address sexual violence in 2026! In the meantime, we hope you can also rest and recharge ahead of a new year.

It was an honor to join La Strada and partners in Moldova for a five-day national workshop dedicated to strengthening Moldova's multidisciplinary response to sexual violence.

Throughout the week, we delivered training to 28 professionals from the social, medical, legal, and law-enforcement sectors in what was a mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge. It was a privilege to lead these trainings, collaborate, and share ideas, knowing that the learnings from these trainings will strengthen service delivery not just in Moldova, but also here in New York City.

While we are half a world apart, being in the same room with these dedicated professionals in Moldova made clear how deeply connected our missions are. The commitment to understanding trauma, improving coordination across systems, supporting survivors with sensitivity, and building community around a common goal transcends borders; our shared mission - to end sexual violence - is universal.
